Help the Confused.

Hellow GC, i am in the market for a hydro system that is cheap small and stealth. i happened to come across this one, light included:
HYDROPONIC KIT, GROWLIGHT, FLORA KIT NUTRIENTS PH KIT - eBay (item 190229633219 end time Jul-13-08 23:13:06 PDT)
So the questions:
Would this be an ideal hydro setup for a novice like me?
Dows anyone know if i can find something else for about that price?
And would that light work for both flowering and veg.?
Any comments will help thank you GC.

No. Hydro is expensive. The rubbermaid storage tote, net pots, and hydroton are the cheapest part. That kit is missing the essential equipment for hydro: The pH/TDS meters. Not only that, they couldnt even insulate the rubbermaid with reflectix for ya.

First and foremost let me say thank you for your input, second i have the cash for more, but am trying to stay within an ideal budget. also i dont want to deal with the hassle of building my own setup and fuggin it up. i dont really want to go with such a high wattage light because i live in an apt and it would be a cause for concern. what other alternatives would you suggest for this high watt light ( although i plan on using hps when i get a house) and this hydro set up. soil would not be an ideal grow for me seeing how im "afraid" to order seeds offline. its possible but not plausible. so i would either have to start with bag seed and find a way if there is any to increase potency or get clones which is lookin a little grim as the weeks pass. any replys will definatly help.!

What does hydro or soil have to do with seeds? You're going to have to get seeds or clones somehow if you want to grow.

I think the others are suggesting Soil cos it's more forgiving should anything go wrong, be it, pH, or whatever,...in Hydro, things move so much faster, you've really got to know your onions, or it can be all over in a matter of days if something like Pythium takes hold.

If your really intent on wetting your feet, Spend some time and do some research in the Hydro forums, then you should have a better idea on how to set things up.
