Not showing off buds? Why the hell not! Nice. Yeah, I've always felt once you knew your setup, the holes weren't necessary, I agree. But I always used them, to prevent operator error. Good setup for the watering, too, that's what got to me a little with my expanding grow.

so im re-reading my post and i look at the pic.... sooo maybe 80% of that shot is buds. 20% res. if i 100% meant what i said i woulda cropped out the buds ...ehhh, just trying to show it works?... sorry, best excuse i could come up with !

j/k anyway i highly advocate using an extended rez. very highly (err...should you choose the medium that is hempy).... water a plant 4 feet back in a corner from the comfort of right in front of you.

low maintenance... is it a desire to make things as efficient as possible..... or is it just the weed?

Thats why I like DWC, lot less hydroton

I think this maintenence question really depends on how many plants you have!

A single DWC bucket with its tiny reservoir would require daily maintenence!!! But 16 of them networked together? Not so much.

This DWC system sure as hell was a lot more work to build: But the amount of hydroton to clean, amounts to less than a single 5 gallon bucket full for each grow

Only thing I do to water all 16 plants is turn on a valve for my float and go smoke a bowl. If the ppm is low maybe add a cup of nutrients or a shot of pH adjuster i'm done maintaining for the week.

Once every two weeks pump out all the water and add fresh water and nutrients... Most of the maintenance is physically cleaning out the system putting the plants in their new homes between runs.

Going somewhere? Just leave the float valve on and go have fun!
That looks like it would take a lot of water to flush the system.
