![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yeah i have no troubles getting another lid NEXT time...lol but how many holes do i cut THIS time... ![]() i too am leaning towards the 5 5inchers...but you know how the whole second guessing yourself thing goes. i guess another way to look at it, whats the minimum plant spacing required for a dwc no veg run? white rhino is not terribly stretchy, and seems to like to lollipop itself. not a ton of side growth at all.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Play it safe this first run then Luke. Start with the 5 -5" pots and go zero veg. If in the end it looks like you could add a few pots, change lids and use 3" pots next go, what ever layout that works for ya. I think you'll find the same problem most others do when comparing hydro to soil.... Hydro will typically produce a higher yield in the same given area, buzz is typically the same, but soil grows are said to taste so much better... Me, as long as there is plenty of it, it better taste good!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | white rhino is not the most pleasant smoke in the world. so im not 100% worried about taste. i always flush and use some kind of sweetener so the taste is always acceptable. but i actually thought the taste was better from chemical 3 part than pbp. the pbp plants always taste a bit spicy to me... reminds me of thanksgiving and spiced ciders. i like the sickening sweet/citrus kind of flavors and aromas. not so fan of the spicy/earthy. honestly im only running hydro dwc, because its the first way i ever grew and i had to cut that down because of gf issues. well ten or so years later my friend decides to clean out his garage and shows up at my house with my original DWC tub and most of the gear inside of it. this is kind of a tribute grow to my fallen kit. it never realized its destiny! lol well that, and i got a free chiller and air pumps due to some clever horse trading. so i figure while i have all this crap i might as well give it a go, because once i get rid of this equipment i will never be able to afford a setup like this again.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Interesting stuff from everyone. ..I agree with the personal pref being the final factor. The thoughts of pick'n 5" still stay with me. Larger buds, if needed clones will be better sized, & the thought that a grow period will last longer comes to mind, so less maintenance between grows will be required. When I get into non-soil hydro I hope to get to try a small SOG with something like all the sizes though. I guess there are other reasons to choose either size, but I have a few things to do & I want to send this off before my puter locks and I have to start over... No matter what it seems your grow will come out good....the force is with you Luke. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | another thought.... if i go with the 5" {which im pretty much settled on} and i dont like it, i can always cut more holes and add the 3" pots in the same location. the center to center spacing will remain the same, there will just be 5 5 inchers and 3 or 4 3 inchers. so i guess that settles it, the best of both worlds! i have all the net pots one man could ever need, so i might as well go ahead and drill all the holes. that way if they dont fill out im already ready for round 2. only reason i even brought this up was looking at that 4000w scrog grow journal on here. i noticed he had 3 per lid, and ended up drillin a few more holes and just sticking clones in rockwool right in the there. seems like he played it safe and wish he hadnt....but i guess thats better than the other way around.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Okay, no fair- I was thinking "why not use BOTH? you could put the 3" in the unused space. That way, even if you don't have enough plants for 5 x5" and 4x3" ( 9 total) you could just tape/block the empties with wood"......... Then that damn Jedi got to it first. Fast at posting, he is. ![]() But, Luke Highwalker, I think the limiting factor is going to be the light- have you considered adding some more? Some CFL's shouldn't be too expensive, and you can put them right into the plants, not the mother. Let us know what happens.
