Okay, so, I said "forget the article in High Times about how to grow a POUND every 3 weeks, you don't need that much.....yes you do, but you haven't the room for it "Anyway, I'm going with a few (3) Sterilite 18-gal totes, in a factory set-up. 1 for rooting from veged plants (no steady mother), 1 for veg, 1 for bloom. I'm not sure whether I'm gonna end up with HID or CFL- probably CFL since HID is WAY to expensive (and impossible to conceal ) so......given that light will probably come from an assload ( assload = as many as I can fit over tubs!!) of CFL's, the biggest I can get, and will be using a DW set-up ( just throw water/nutrients in tub, change weekly) with plenty of airstones for each tub,Which nutrients will work best for MJ? I have used hydro before, but never for MJ. I grew 'impossicorn', indoor sweet corn for eating on christmas eve. I have looked at Humboldt and Lucas, would like to stay organic as possible. I'm likely going to be doing Strawberry cough, Big Bud, and maybe Super Silver Haze, all from Marijuanaseeds-nl. Never ordered from them b4, but heard good things. So, help on the Nutrients ? I prefer a 2 or 3 part system, also prefer a concentrate as they are cheaper and money is an object right now. Thanks for any help.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | cfl's are much more expensive than HID lighting. and are nearly impossible to cool.... the article in high times im sure was just stolen from Stink Buds journal on icmag, entitled harvest a pound every three weeks. high times is such a piece of shit magazine, god it makes my blood boil... lastly, dont steal your grow equipment, its bad karma. and thats the last thing you need in a grow.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A 2 part, concentrated, almost organic nutrient system is flora nova by general hydroponics. I have used it for over a year with some fabulous results. I have recently done a ton of research on nutrients and learned that 1300ppm of flora nova with 100% putback in hydro is highly recommended by lucas and others that know a lot about nutrients. On a side note, I don't agree with stealing anything and if you choose to do so, be prepared to accept the consequences. Don't give people anymore reasons to look down on growers and if you do decide to steal lighting, please do not talk about it here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | sorry about the stealing part- (now edited to read 'conceal') it was part of an inside joke about a guy I read about who went to the ER because a light bulb got stuck somewhere in his body.....He said he put it there because he was trying to steal it and ducked into the bathroom to conceal it. ![]() and a HID is a big bulb....it was funnier when I was smoking. ![]() Anyway, CFL's more $$ than HID? the way I worked it out, I can pick up CFL watts for less than HID watts, I just don't get the penetration. What gives? I mean, by the time I get the ballast (dual, cos I'd like to switch between HPS and Metal Halide) or just get a bunch of $1.50 holders for cfls and a bunch of bulbs, it seems I would save a bit right now, and money is totally tight at the moment..... so, ? is HID cheaper? What am I adding wrong? And high times just got me thinking about pvc again, I didn't know they stole the article....that's messed up! What are they doing, just printing from grow journals? Does anyone even DO reporting anymore? Thanks for the suggestions on the nutrients- I found out there is a store almost close to me that stocks them, so I can look at 'em before I gotta buy 'em.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | all the bits and pieces add up with CFL. here the 42w cfl are 9 bucks a pop. you are looking at about 12 bucks a piece after you get a holder, wire and tax. 10 of those is over 100 bucks, over 400watts and HALF the light output of a 400w HID light. it takes 32 26w cfl's to roughly equate to a 400w hps. and thats assuming they are 1600lu a piece, which is rare for 2700k bulbs. even still you are looking at 80 or 90 bucks for bulbs, plus another 40 bucks for sockets and cords, you can use less sockets by using doublers, but they cost more than the cheapy plastic bulb bases. of course now your 400w HID equivalent is pulling well over 800watts in cfl power trying to match the light output of the HPS. try cooling 800 watts of cfl's....good luck.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For the sake of the discussion I thought of a way to cool CFL's today... just put them in your XXL air cooled hood and suck the heat right out of them ![]() Seriously man, you can find a 600 watt hid set up probably with the fan and carbon filter too for about 200 bucks on craigslist if you can stomach purchasing grow equipment from a stranger over the internet( i can't ). Your plants will totally thank you for it and you'll get a qp or a 1/2 p instead of an oz. I strongly recomend HID. The CFL's are find for vegging but that HID is awesome for flowering. 400 is fine, 600 is better, 1000 is probably too much, unless you think you might expand later or unless it's not hard to keep your grow cool.Nutes. If your going organic the Pure Blend Pro is my organic of choice, but I've had real good luck vegging with freeking fish emulsion in my res ![]() For chemical nutes... GH 3 part or GH Lucas is cheap and simple to get a grip on. That's what I started with 2 years ago and I keep saying that I'm going back to it and I know I will, just don't know when. I had real real real nice taste and good yeild once when I grew with GH nutes up to about week 6, then on a crazy whim I switched over to Pure Blend Pro (flowering) Soil, yes soil mix, and grew them until week 10 organicly in my flood trays. The taste was superduper, I don't know why I don't go back to that, I just may. ![]()
