Hey guys any thoughts on the Aero Garden? Was thinking of trying hydro for the first time and seen this setup and it's fairly cheap. Just wondering if you guys think it would be good for a beginner hydro grower. I know you need plenty of fresh air and air movement as well. I wasnt just gonna slap some seeds in it and let her go. Also What about nutrients for growing hydroponically. What are some good kinds to use for vegetative and flowering stages? All help is appreciated.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | a small dwc can be built for a fraction of the price of an aerogarden and have MUCH better results. oddly, there is nothing aero about an aero garden. they are actually tiny little dwc's. a bucket or sterlite or rubbermaid container, couple air stones, an air pump and a few cfl's is all you need to get growing. you can buy everything you need for 50 bucks, with good nutes and all less than a 100.....and you will actually be able to grow some nice buds.

![]() | Yea I would shy away from using the Aerogarden, its really more of a novelty than something to actually grow decent bud in. If you want to try hydro the easiest way is probably to build a DWC bucket (deep water culture), where you stick the plant in some expanded clay pellets at the top of a bucket and the roots grow down into the bucket that is full of water (well, about half full). You mix your nutrients into the water and place an air stone at the bottom to aerate the solution (the roots needs oxygen). This is what I do and it works pretty well, and its very simple. Oh, and I use General Hydroponics 3-part Flora series nutrients, probably the most common and widely used type for hydro. I grow in small 2-gallon buckets to conserve space, you can see one of my grow logs with some pics here: http://www.gardenscure.com/420/visua...-lights-x.html

![]() ![]() ![]() | Ok sweet I saw the 3 part nutrients that you mentioned. But is the General Hydroponics Floramicro necessary? I can see using the Flora Grow and Flora Bloom but when should I use the floramicro? if at all? Also I am gonna be starting the seeds in rockwool cubes. How old do the seedlings have to be before I start adding nutes to my water? Also do the nutrients come with instructions. I mean as far as how much to add per gallon of water?

directions are on the back, but you always want to go off what your plants need, not what the bottle says. seedlings usually need fed 2-3 weeks after they sprout up. growing in rockwool, maybe a few days sooner, since it contains absoulutly no nutrient value. always start off at low strengths, never the full dosage. 1/4 tsp of each would be a good first feeding.

![]() ![]() | I have been growing Hempy style for about 1.5 year with about 5 strains. I have yet to find a strain that would not burn all to hell if I used the amount of nutes the bottle says to use. I use GH 3part plus calmag for veg at no more then 5ml each. Most of my strains respond better to 3ml each. In Flower I use 5ml micro 10ml bloom 5ml calmg and 3ml liquid koolbloom, And that is pushing it

![]() ![]() ![]() | Okay sweet so once my seed sprouts up in the rockwool cube, can I just set the whole cube in my netpot filled with hydroton or other media like vermiculite? Or do I need to take it out of the cube? Also as far as feeding goes, how do I know how much nutes to put in to my water and how often? I am using a 10 gallon tote.
