Temp never goes above 70F and yes it's flood and drain. Thanks.

Well an airstone in the res is key for healthy roots. Hygrozyme is great stuff, I use it in

my ebb n gro's results are bone white healthy roots. Also i have a large air pump in each

res. Your temps are ok, so lack of oxygen may be the culprit. How long do

you veg? Do you use any root building additive during veg?

I asked whether oxygenation was necessary for E&F in another thread and was told no, that my waterfall created by the return of nutrient solution into the reservoir during floods was enough. I've tried hygrozyme, spent about $200 on two gallons and it made the problem worse. I hardly veg at all usually, running a SoG setup. Sometimes I take them directly from an aerocloner into flowering. No root building additives, just GH hardwater Micro and Bloom, 1 teaspoon and 2 teaspoons per gallon during vegging, 1 and 3 during flowering. They don't seem to have a problem growing roots, just keeping them strong and white.

I'm leaving for the hydro store soon but at this point am leaning towards using Murphy's oil soap once a week for three weeks before each reservoir change. I know it will kill the springtails because I've used it before; they just come right back but it sounds like the same thing would happen with azatrol, I don't know how much of that I would need but it would probably would be expensive to treat all of my reservoirs, and I'd have to use soap with it anyway.

I'm not sayin to fill up your reservoirs with a mixture of the stuff. Just mix up a couple quarts of it and dump it over the top of all your net pots & hydroton. I'd use dr. bronners soap personaly. Its to break the surface tension and allow it to mix into the water better. A half teaspoon is all you need. and a tablespoon of azatrol.

If that soap stuff you've got kills them, try 3 applications back to back, it should take care of it. But if it harms the plants, I'd look for a neem oil product.

Do you have any stagnating water in your trays after the drain cycle? That can cause root rot for sure.

Soap kills a lot of them but even applying it once a week these fuckers keep increasing in number between treatments.

Has anyone used Microbe-Lift BMC Mosquito Control for springtails, thrips or fungus gnats? It's a general larvicide and I've read that it provides excellent control of all of those, besides mosquitoes. I added it to my reservoirs today.

Well fuck, now from what I've read springtails don't go through a larval stage but just hatch from eggs into miniature adults. Azatrol is about $100 for 32 ounces, ridiculous. I don't understand how these bugs can be such a huge problem in my garden but I can find almost no information about them causing anyone else problems or how to get rid of them.

I'd need that much to treat all of my plants. I'm starting to think I shouldn't have ever tried to get rid of the springtails. My garden had been doing fine, but the roots were getting browner than I thought they should by harvest time. So I researched and kept reading that hygrozyme would make roots white, added that to my reservoirs for a few weeks, then the roots got worse, started to look rotten and I noticed the springtails which I've been trying to get rid of for the last several weeks. I'm suspecting that the springtails were feeding on bacteria and/or dead roots, and not damaging my plants. Maybe they were helping by eating bad bacteria. I'm going to stick with just GH nutes for a few weeks no matter how many springtails show up and see what happens.

Forget azatrol then, I didnt realize it was so expensive. I bought a 2 oz bottle at my hydro store for 20 bucks its lasted me awhile. Try any neem oil concentrate, should work fine.

At this point you'll need to kill them bugs, clean everything really well (i'd reccomend scrubbing with bio green clean) and start fresh. Soak that hydroton really well in h2o2.
