![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i am generally against using bleach on a regular basis on most equipment too, but in healer's case, im thinking the toxicity of bleach should pretty much kill whatever problem there is. no second guessing it. no hippie dippie cleaner to guess if its gonna clean it or not. not knocking the bio green stuff man, looks good, used by people with chem sensitivities.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | and my theory involves the plants' possible toxic reaction too... The bleach residue weakens their immune system I think, and makes them more vulnerable to root rot. At least, when I stopped using bleach and switched to bio-green clean my root rot troubles started to clear up instantly. This stuff knocks the socks off bleach or other cleaners for cleaning just about anything hydro or household related. It makes scrubbing almost unnecesary.. I use it for cleaning chillers too, works great soak it overnight in a 1:8 solution of the stuff and it completely dissolves the buildup and deposits. Bleach never did such a thing. Seriously this stuff leaves my trays squeaky clean, even better than all those toxic cleaners. Sometimes natural shit is just... better ![]() Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for all the help. I've considered everything and think I should give everything one "fresh start" sterilization with bleach, scrubbing and rinsing thoroughly with water after that, and from then on use H2O2 and Clearex but just clean everything that touches plants with those every couple of months. I've used all of it before but just on hydroton, never circulating through the system like Bluecheese discussed and think that's what I should do to get everything really clean. I may have been overestimating the extent of the problem too. It's not like my plants are about to die, despite all the Murphy's oil soap flushes, springtails and whatever they are feeding on.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | tbh healer, i have those "spring tails" too, and my roots arent a pearly white. but i haven't seen a major detrimental effect on the plants themselves, so. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm going to try that stuff designed to prevent mosquito larvae from developing, next summer to try and control thrips. I've read it definitely does work well on them, it's safe and inexpensive and I get thrips every summer. I'll use it in my dogs' pool too to limit mosquitoes, never read about this stuff until recently.

![]() ![]() | Some of that looks like algae on the roots. Are they open to the light when they are in flower?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No, they're only in just net pots during the brief vegging period. Then I put those inside of 6" square solid pots for flowering and only the little bit of roots growing out the bottoms of those is exposed to light.
