After each crop, I take the table and reservoir apart (including all lines & pumps) and take them outside. I scrub everything with a scrubie sponge and the garden hose.

I put it all back together and flood for 24 hours (with the hydroton in the table) with a mild bleach solution. I have no idea of the ratios, I just pour a little in the res. Then I drain that res & fill it with RO water and flood at least another 24 hours. I drain that res before starting a new one for the plants.

I clean everything ...

... every 14 days.

Buckets, reservoirs, interior airlines, clone tray ... everything I can reach.

I do water changes (and cut clones) every 14 days ... and with each water change, the buckets get a scrub with a sponge/cloth and plain hot water. Each plant gets a fresh nutrient solution and a clean bucket/res.

Every 8 weeks I clean the walls/floors/bulbs/reflectors ... everything gets a once-over

If it was economically feasible ... or even practical ... I would grow in a sealed clean room

Your the Danny Tanner of the grow world.

Thats a good thing though. Reduce chances of problems and probably not a spec of dust.

Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) played on a tv series called full house in the 90's. He played a clean freak. Cleaning everything all the time. Being in canada, you probably never seen such a stupid show. Im sure youve heard of the twins on it though. lol One enjoys sniffing cocaine like my former president did.

Every harvest.
Airstones I do every res change. I simply swap them out for another ones, and let them soak in vinegar and water untill next week when they go back in again. They seem to slime up after a while and plug off.

I like this routine, especially circulating bleach water through everything the nutrients normally do, so everything the plant roots are exposed to gets sanitized. I know some people are against bleach saying it leaves a detrimental residue but I'm thinking the benefits of having a cleaner system are more than worth it.

Yeah, I definitely need to start cleaning more. I thought I remembered reading about how hydro stuff had to be sterilized much more unlike the organic soil I was using at the time, but then I switched and read all this anti-bleach stuff and more people growing organic hydro, encouraging microbes and got the idea cleaning stuff wasn't important with hydro either.

Yeah I like the idea of runing mild bleach through the system.

All you have to do is wait and give a good rinse. Any residual chlorine will dissipate shortly. Especially if you have splashing, etc. So if you let it run with no nutes and clean water, the oxygen involved during the splashing will cause the chlorine to dissipate even faster....or you can buy drops from the pet store for aquariums, which is Sodium Thiosulfate.
