I have read that under 200 ppm before ferts are added is ok but that over 200 you need to condition the water. With 190 ppm pre-fertilization should I worry about reverse osmosis? Thanks.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I use RO water because my water out of the tap is 300 to 550 ppm. I certainly would try to grow with your tap water first. If you have problems, then look at the water.

![]() ![]() | Thanks. I am in a new location now and the water is almost 8 Ph and 190 ppm out of the tap. Been having a few nute lock out problems and just wanted to make sure. I was blessed in my last location. The water was less than 75 ppm and Ph of 5.9 out of the tap.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I may be misinformed but I've read that 150 PPM tap water will cause lock out. I always use RO water just to be safe and eliminate a possible problem before it happens. One less thing to worry about IMO. There is an RO dispenser a few blocks from my house...goes for twenty five cents per gal. Or better yet pick up an RO unit for your faucet at Lowe's or Home Depot.

![]() ![]() | Hmm my tap water is over 150 ppm every time....I am experiencing lock out deficiencies (most specifically Magnesium). How much is a fawcett style RO machine?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My ro filter connects to a water hose and I think it was 180. Not sure about the faucet ones as I need alot more water than they put out. What nutes are you using? GH has a line specific for hard water. I'd give that a go if I were you. I get lockouts on RO water if I'm feeding them too strong. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 450 ppm tap water...so hard and heavy with iron, calcium and other minerals, it has a bouquet ffs....but...damn'd if it bothered the plants. ![]() A high PPM is not the matter...its the components and their respective ratios of that PPM that either promote or discourages growth and or nute lock out.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | my tap comes out about 180ppm (hanna) 7.5-8.0pH, and i have an RO unit (for drinking water now, cant drink tap anymore). I was using nothing but RO water for plants, and the pH was harder to control (although i was also using different nutrients at the time too, GH maxigrow/maxibloom 1part nutrient, instead of the 3-part flora). Then i switched to half RO half tap to help try stabalizing the pH. The RO spits out 1 gallon per hour and has a 2 gallon tank, so it eventually over time just sort of got phased out for being used for plants. who wants to wait 2 hours for the tank to refill so you can refill another bucket? i'll use tap thanks ![]() i've been using nothing but tap for a long time now and haven't had any problems. after mixing nutrients in with my tap, it always comes out 6.0pH (unless i use an insanely small or large amount) but i think it all depends what is in the water you are using. mine seems alright
