Ok I had to do this. I see alot of people use the title Hempy experience but to me Hempy is a lifestyle. Once you go hempy its hard to do anything else. It gives you the best of both worlds. My roommate is a devout soil grower and have convinced him to mess with a couple of my hempy plants to see what he thinks. If your in the LIFESTYLE. Chime in with your thoughts and results for all others thinking they want to join in our lifestyle choice can. This should also be a great thread to ask questions on because of all the hempy growers out there in GC. TC

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I hate to be a spoiler but... ... I have grown in hempy buckets for a long time. Just today I harvested a hempy plant that'll yield about 8 or 10 ounces when dry. I recently started keeping moms in soil. The clones I planted in soil far out performed the ones I put in hempy buckets!

Thanks cheese, I wouldn't consider you a spoiler. On our last grow we did an experiment to compare between hempy and soil unfortunately all three hempy plants turned out to be males. Up until sex the hempy plants were twice the size as the soil plants. I'm not saying that is any indication of what the final results would have been but atleast gave me something to think about. I enjoy hempy mostly due to the ease of use. It is especially great for noobs because it is soo much harder to over water or mess up. Granted it is still possible to make mistakes just a little harder than soil because hempy is more forgiving. We again are going to try a hempy vs soil comparison. we have 9 Hempy and 6 soil at the moment and have 5 seeds in rockwool cubes to see if they will pop(these seeds are old and we couldn't get any of them to germ last grow). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OLA TheSharpCajun I am growing both in IRB's (InternalRezBuckets)/Hempys and Soil The SCROG I have now in my Grow Journal is a 75% Perlite/25% Vermiculite mix in a 3 gal trashcan. One big benefit I see with IRB's is you can react to any Nute problems and see resultz in a day or 2 IRB's work real well when you want to force bloom your plants and keep them around 3 to 4 feet, however I do think MsBlue will have an EZer time with MOMs in Soil, ![]() (Congrads BC on the BlueWidow harvest) These IRB's were flipped to 12x12 at 18'', and 4week's. and taken down at 9 weeks of flowering , with an average yield of 2 Oz's ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey cajun good luck on your grow hempy buckets are cool. I grew out a few plants in hempy but what i did was put them in small soil pot first until they were a goot 4-5 in tall then transplanted them into the hempy with the dirt and all. They grew out very nicely and grew almost as fast as my multy flow buckets. Lets see some beans being popped!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I gotta chime in. I was growing in DWC and I find Hempy much easier. No worries about water temperatures, plugged drains, bad pumps and continually shifting nute insanties. I would also like to say that I find Hempy much more productive but there are so many variables, including my own increasing experience level and different genetics, that it's hard to say whether Hempy is responsible or not. I would agree that, at the least, it's made nute issues MUCH more simple to address. All I know is I want to get rid of my DWC setup. Never going to use it again. And my two Hempy grows have been magnificent - at least by my standards. OK...there's a lot of watering. But I think of it as intimate one on one time with the occupants of the harem.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think hempy is a great method. Its easy, it works. Simple as that. What I dont like though is the watering. Every other day is just plain annoying. Especially if you have vegging and flowering plants. Your most likely mixxing up nutrient water daily. Im currently growing 1 small hempy. Using strictly liquid organics on it and not adjusting ph. Looks ok, but still has weeks to go. If it works out, hempys may be in my future again.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am a believer! I started out with aero but I found the insane ph swings and constant monitering to be a hassle. I like the simplicity of watering by hand and just minor ph adjustments.

PH Can turn out to be a huge problem(one i faced last grow). I found that the vermiculite had a tendency to hold the PH solution in it making my PH in my medium drop below 4 and started locking out my nutes and thus my plant growth halted and my plants looked droopy. I stopped PHing my nute mixtures and ALL was fine. Not sure if this was just a problem I incurred or something that happens if you use PH solutions. TC

![]() | All these hempy grows look so great. You guys are able to get massive plants out of them! When I have more space, I think I want to try out hempy next! I'm in my first grow with a DWC system, and always worrying about reservoir temp and the daily pH swing can get to be tedious. The more "set it and forget it" the system is, the happier I am!
