Hello again! Ebb and Flow

Hello everyone.

I haven't been real active for a while. I tend to come back and forth as projects find me as I do not grow for myself ATM.

Recently I have gotten a request to help rebuild a grow room. It has been decided because of space and experience we would be building an ebb and flow table.

I have been surfing the forums and brushing up on everything ebb and flow but I figured I would throw it out there for suggestions.

I know there are tons of threads hidden behind the lacking search function so I was hoping ya'll have bookmarked your favorites. Please feel free to share links of construction or journals or just basic advice.

Thanks for any help!

Is it worth it to buy a pre made table? They are a pretty penny but i'm thinking easier to deal with the fittings. Suggestions?

I just built a home-made E&F system myself. It was a really good decision, as I have explosive growth rates and they are really simple to build and use. The plants are grown in 6" net bottom pots and I raise them up to about 2ft+.

I made mine, with the pumps for under $30.

I used a 27 liter rubbermaid tray from Walmart and an 18 gallon roughneck tote for the reservoir. The flood tray sits fairly snug on top of this lid, after applying weather stripping along the perimeter of the lid top to securly hold the tray in place.

I have 2 store bought bulkhead fittings that I sealed with aquarium silicone, a $11 aquarium pump, and a $6 air pump for the air-stone.

The system can hold 6 plants in 6" pots.

You may need something larger than this, which can be done if you just upgrade to larger reservoir, and flood tray. The tray may be harder to find. The larger the tray may also require some kind of table to support the weight of the flood.

Something like that may work. I was thinking about doing three seperate systems so it may be more perpetual harvest.

Well, building 3 of these size systems should be cheaper than purchasing 3 of a similar size. Those smaller Emily's Garden systems cost as much as 2 of these systems if I'm correct, and this system is actually larger in size.

I veg in E&F and will be moving to DWC for flower. You could set up a couple of these systems and have your perpetual operation.
