Question Transplanting in hydroton
permalink

Hi guys, this is my first grow. I have a few plants in my flowering room now. When I bought the seeds it said they had a flowering time of 50 days. It's 63 days now and I am still seeing some new growth, I think they will go at least to 70 mabe 75.Now I have a new set of girls in the veg room ready to go in, they are in rockwool in net pots. I have roots comming out of my pots. How is this going to effect them when I move them to the flowering room. I am sure to break some of the tiny roots when I move them from one room to the next. Will this hurt them and what kind of precautions can I take.

The best way to go about this in my opinion is to get the new container ready, turn the old one upside down dumping the loose hydroton out. Once all the loose stuff is all out, gently work the roots through the old containers and into the new container, fill around them with the hydrton, a little bit at a time so you don't rip the roots.

This is, of course assuming you aren't E&F with just a bunch of plants in one hydroton filled tub. In that case, just be gentile and move em.

I don't know whether this is an option with your setup, but I put smaller pots inside larger ones when I put them into flowering, to avoid any transplant shock.

The strain I mostly grow, Afghani #1, is supposed to flower for 45 days according to the seed bank but takes 8-9 weeks. I've read that they often put a shorter time than it actually takes, to try and interest more growers in buying it.
