Question Newbie asking about pitfalls of Aeroflo
permalink

My very first posting on any forum, so I hope I'm rewarded with plenty of advice.

After reading up a lot on different methods of hydroponics, I have taken a fancy to the Aeroflo system, mainly because it seems logical, relatively easy to build (I live in the Czech Rep, parts and labour are cheap) and a lot less messy than using soil. I've found various guides on how to build your own, how to operate it etc, but am unclear on certain points:
- Should the root tips be submerged in nutes, while the rest of the root system is misted?
- Should this misting/agitation be constant or intermittent?
- Is it suitable for both fresh clones and flowering plants and what size/depth pot should I use if planning SCRoG?
- Can coarse/overly powerful spray damage roots/should all bubble wands be submerged or can I fit a few on the sides of the reservoir to directly spray the roots?
- Disregarding pH and other factors, how easy is it to ruin a crop using this technique? It seems to be TOO good to be true, so why doesn't everyone use it, complexity aside?

Thanks for your help and for any useful links i.e. how to build a simple light rail etc

Welcome to HC.com. im sure ull get some useful advice anytime soon... ill ave a go for now tho.

course, if ur after aero advice, try the aero forum.

i dont think that any of the roots are submerged in aeroponics, hence the name.

make sure the spray doesnt leak out of the top, round the lid.

as far as i know the system is ok for all stages of plantlife, tho id be carefull of damaging newly rooted clones with the powerfull spray. perhaps at this time direct the spray at the other side of the container rather than directly at the roots.

the sprayers should run 24/7

scrog really is going to affect whats above the system, not the size of container....

hell... why am i even answering this?! i dont know jack about aeroponics! go read the aeroponics forum!
