Has anyone heard of something you can use to remove the ammonia and chlorine from the tap water. I don't have means to distill 20 gal at a time. I used to do coral reef/saltwater tanks and I used a product called Amquel to remove them. Did not kill the fish and even more sensitive any corals. Reef tank now thats freakin maintenance Gots me a new hobby and the rewards will be GRAND anywho did not want to hurt the plants with chemicals, so if not I will keep it as i am doing now, nuttin. Drain fill add nutes....... Take it slow

![]() | FYI for those who didn't know. Bad idea.. I was told from the hydro store that most of the products that will remove them contain formaldehyde. Also told me my local h2o is very good. The End

if you have that much noticable Chlorine and especially amonia in your tap water then there is a problem with the water. where are you at to have such bad water? Chlorine is adjusted by adding PH up or down. too much chlorine leaves you a residual in the water and drives the ph up. Amonia is basically left over sewage that the chlorine and water process didn't kill or rid..if it is that bad boil the water you use then let it cool that should take care of it.. and if you take too much Cl out of the water there is a chance for bloodborn pathogens to get into the water, and that's ![]() good luck Hempgirl

Maybe i just don't understand, but where do blood born pathogens fit into any equation involving plants, which have no blood? Smiles, BD ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Cl is excellent for lowering viral load such as pythia, etc. Chlorine is a gas and expires from any solution in 24hrs, this can be assisted by adding a bubbler to any water you plan to use in your sytem. We have people here in Oz who use a product called 'Pyth-off' , its an anti pythia product and contains clorine as its active ingredient. Regds, OzGrowa
