Natural zeolite can be used as an inert growth medium for plants. Using only zeolite as the growth medium brings all the benefits of reduced fertiliser and water consumption, and many growers have indicated improved plant health, higher yields and shorter production times. I am still doing research on this medium and the jury is not in on this one yet, if anyone has any experience with this medium please enlighten us. From what I can gather, zeolite will store excess nutrients (resulting in less tip burn) and release them on an as needed basis due to it's high cation properties. While being slightly alkaline it is an inert , it will probably take a while to adjust ph to base value, but due to it's high buffer capacity it should help prevent ph drift. It is also being utilized by NASA in their C.E.A. Labs in the form of a product called ZeoPro. This sounds like it has potential to be the main ingredient in a "Hydroponics for Dummies" equipment setup. Lol | ||
