| I sounds to me like the white residue is from your nutrients and it also sounds like to that you did not dilute the solution enough when introducing the plants to the system. If you can drain the res (save the solution) flush really well with plain ph adjusted water and wait for them to recover. Dilute the salvaged solution and try again. This is what I would do in this situation, it is up to you to do the right thing. | ||

| If you drained the res and flushed the plants and refilled with nute free water your plant would show signs of recovery in a few hours if not within 10 to 15 minutes. Are you using net pots or not? If your pot bottoms are sitting on the water then you have a problem with an overwatering situation. You will see the plant turn yellow from the bottom up in this case. I hope this helped. | ||

| I've said it in the past, and I'm saying it again: if you don't have experience growing plants in general, don't try hydroponics. hydro isn't all that difficult, but if you don't know what you're doing, it can be almost impossible to keep even the simplest plants alive...for your first time, go w/ soil, it's SOOOO much more forgiving... | ||

| The idea of the wick system is that the wick once wetted, will bring the water to the roots when they want it. This does not mean that the pot bottoms should be on the water at all. The wick is what makes this system work. Some roots may make their way to the res at some point and this is ok, but the pot should not touch the water or the plants will suffer. | ||
