ok. here's the situation. my parentes went away on a weeks vacation. (just kidding)

light: 150w hps 6'' overhead
medium: emily's garden (passive hydro system with grow rocks and rockool)
space: 2.5'X6' X 8'
PH:6.3

my friend has a beautiful mother in which he got impatiant and flowered at 6''. Needless to say, he didn't harvest much.
He then revegged and is currently trying to get his solution correct.
The mother is about 10'' tall now, but is showing signs of over fertilization. The leaf tips (old and new) are brown and some curl under.
There is one clone and one baby from seed both in the same solution. They both look good.
The problem is the mother.
In the past three days, in an attempt to correct the problem, he has changed the solution several times. He has gone from mirical grow, to mirical grow for tomatoes,to alaska fish fertilizer for startups (212), to the current general hydro nutrient 777. The mother still has yellow leaves on both the old and new growth, yet the new babies look fine. According to the chart at http://www.coastnet.com/~bcga/bcga/nutrients.htm the mother shows signs of over (N) as well as under (N) fertilization. What is the problem? Oh yea, he also has a radio in the space. they seem to enjoy it.

Eh? Over and under N? Try running straight water for a bit. How're the roots?

what I mean is that according to the chart, the plant shows both signs of over as well as under fertizilization. Both the old and new growth are affected. Both the old and new growth are yellowing. Overall the plant is dark green, but the oldest leaves and newest growth are light green and are burned on the tips.

The mother's roots are happy as far as I can tell. They are just about to grow out of the bottom of the pots. The other two are of course too young to get that far.

I think now that it was the roots. They must have been damaged somehow. The two little plants are growing like a charm. When I put the big plant in water for a while it lost its color. When it went back into the 777 gen hydro it looked like it immediately got greener. I guess only time will tell. Things is looking up though. One other thing, I think that this post should have gone in the nutrients section. I will definately go there next time. Thanks!
