Is it ok to use rocks for fish aquariums rather than grow rocks?

Geolite grow rocks are better than aquarium rocks because they retain moisture.

aquarium rocks are not as good for hydro. they do not retain moisture at all and they do not anchor the roots well eithert.

should i just stick the seed in my hydro table then in a pot with rock wool or just stick in rockwool and it will finds its way???
