algae(i think thats what it is) is growing in my resevoir and on top of my medium. Is this anything to worry about or does it just look messy?

lol , its not too much of a worrie on the top of your medium but you dont want it in your resi. Flush the system with water get a lid for your resi and make sure your resi is not clear it must be a dark colour so light doesnt enter your resi as light causes this algi to grow , the algi on the top of your medium isnt a short term problem but if left long term untreated it will spoil your medium , to prevent this i use a small layer of HYDROTON , or CLAY Balls on the top to Prevent Algi growth. With Rockwool lol u need to use the old hand and wash this is the only way to get rid of it . Prevention is the Best Solution.
