![]() | Hi, I read that the roots hanging down in your hydro system should be trimmed. The reason for this was that hydro plants don't need an extensive root system. Is this true? Any comments? Thanks | ||

![]() | I don't think that is quite right. In my reasoning the more roots the more nuts the plant can absorb the more it will grow. How ever you don't want to keep disurbing the roots. I used 4" pots the entire grow. roots that grew out the bottom I just left alone and they didn't grow very long. now that I am flowering I am having problems with leaves yellowing and dropping off really quickly and part of the problem I think is the lack of ample space that I supplied for the root system to grow in. The males that I cut down had completely filled the bottom 2" or so of the pots. I guess you have to decide for you own system what will be best but if you do leave the roots you should take care not to let large portions of them grow out and then die this will cause dead spots to appear on leaves.
