please help with hydro ?

my first grow was with soil and using the supercropping method (which i learned on this forum...thanks) turned one plant into 1/4 lb. yielding machine. now i want to grow with hydroponics. have done a lot of surfing and want to build my own and save hundreds. what i have in mind is something like a N.F.T. system or even a Aero Jet system. it looks easy enough to build, i just dont have the particulars to back me up. what im looking for is info on what type of pumps, how much water should flow, how deep the water flow should be as well as any other tidbits you could give. i know that the resevoir should be changes regularly, but what type of nutes should i use and how often to use. i didnt post any pics from my first grow but am now armed with a digital camera so i promise to post pics of the entire grow. thank you sooo much in advance. you wonderful people are just that....

I'm no expert, as I'm still quite new to this, but here's a link that might help you choose which fertz to use. Although I can't seem to find a list like that based out of canada, I am looking and will post the link as soon as (or if) I find it. You might want to read the thread the above link came from, it's in organics under "organics vs. hydro". Good luck!

Look up a company called US Plastics. If it's made of plastic, they have it. They are super cheap for the DIY'er.

In that case, don't biuld the NFT tray's too big. All the plants on the tray will form one complete rootmat, removing individual plants may be hard, but if the tray is relativly small you could switch the full tray to the flowering area

i'm a noob but i did build a home made EBB & Flow system using 2 gal buckets

my system consists of

21 2gal buckets that i bought from home depot for about $2 each

21x2= $42 bucks on the buckets

fittings i used around $30 dollars and hoses $20

pump was around $75-100 for that size of a system

42+50+100= 190ish

is what i built my ebb and flow system that i get to play around with and make it to fit any size room being square rectangular or circle etc. play around with some things at a local plumbing store i spent a few hours then went home and put it on paper with some crayons and walla i had a nice system that i tested and looks great

once i get a digi camera i'll take some shot of the system and post them.

just a noob

you wouldn't be able to split the roots without scissors, the rootmat forms right across the tray about an inch deep you'd have to cut the plants out, no ideal.

If you're switching plants between systems then E&F with pot based medium would be hard to beat
