In about a week I will be starting my firs grow from seed in a DWC system. My problem is that I don’t know whether the do the grow in 10L buckets with one plant per bucket, or 50L tubs with 4 plant per tub which is how it is normally done. So the thing that I need to know is if I do it in the 50L tub will the roots become tangled by the time I sex them and get rid of the males?

the roots will probebly get tanglaed and can cause problems when you have finally determined the gender.
and having a bigger than smaller res. is the way to go..
sex the plants before they go in the system and save yourself the hassles

just simply start clones, the clones will be a known sex, and you can manage the timing better.

djtomatoe2000 - how do I sex the plants be for they go in the system?

Bobbooty – year that would be mad to be able to take clones but because this is my first grow there is no mother plant

i hope you dont take this the wrong way,,,but if i tell you then you wont learn as well as if you go after the info on your own.

starting seeds and taking clones is a very basic and very easy thing to learn to do.

use a search to find out how to sprout seeds....and how to determine the gender ,,,,,and how to clone.
it is really easy !!!!
do you have a grow book? in not get one ,,it is worth the few dollors it cost.

hey man
i have 2 afghans in a 50L DWC and they have just clicked into budding and the roots nearly fill the whole tub, i am using 2 dual outlet high powered air pumps to run them, 4 fairly sized plants is to many, go with 2 50L tubs with 2 per tub, also the problem with 4 is that there isnt enough space and your plants will be competeing with each other.
