Confused about pH
permalink

I have a few plants in hydro. I know the optimal range for nutrient uptake is 5.5 to 6.1. This said, I adjusted the pH down to 5.8. The next time i stick it with my meter, it reads 6.6. What could be causing this. Initially i emptied the resevoir and started with fresh water, ph adjusted to 5.8, and lite nutrients. Now my girls look like something is wrong. Check out the pic attached and let em know what all of you think.

Thanks again.

Notice the leaves are starting to slightly curl up and are yellowing on the tips.

How strong is your nutrient solution? Looks like you have the begining of nute burn. but just slightly. If you pH is correct (ie if your pH meter is calibrated ) then i would bet nute burn.

Get back to me with the strength.. and brand..details.. the more the better.

I am using metanaturals 3-3-3 plant food with a small dose of 16-0-0 nitrogen. They were fine in that solution. It started after I removed all the water and then started fresh with just 3-3-3. The pH meter is calibrated.

the rockwool will cause a drift until they are soaked and balance out with the water. someone told me the pH of the rockwool is 8.0 before its wet
