![]() | I read in the hydro section of the growing guide that you can use rockwool slabs and cubes placed in a pan of water and nutrients. A "resevoir set-up" I think. I also saw a pic of this type of set-up in this months High Times and it looks nice and clean. Although I have not read about many people here using that type of set-up, I am curious as to whether or not it works well. I am planning to grow a few plants and this method seems pretty easy and cheap. I plan on using a kitty litter type pan with a 12"L x 6"W x 4"H rockwool slab in it with the plant growing in a 3"L x 3"W x 2.5"H rockwool cube on top of that. 1 plant per pan, 3 or 4 plants total. Do you just put the slab on the bottom of the pan and fill with 1 or 2 inches of water or is the slab supposed to be raised up off the bottom? Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone used this method? Did it work well?

![]() | just throwing a block of rock wool in a puddle of water is like inviting algea.. this wont work real well not that i know of n e way.. you should prolly try a little more complicated system... take that cat pan an fill the bottom like 2-4 inches with perlite or Geolite an then place a solid brick of rockwool into the box so that it fits snug not letting n e light through an then get a large bucket an fill it with ur water an drill a hole into the bottom an drop a water pump into the bucket an connect a air tube to the water pump an put it through the hole in the bottom of the bucket an lead it to the pan where you drill another hole in the bottom of one side of the pan an stick the oppisite side of the hose in thats connected to the pump an then drill a hole in the othere side of the pan an put another peice of tubing coming out an leading back to the bucket then place the pan on top of the bucket.. this way the pump will pump water into the pan an it will continuesly be rushing through the roots an out the other side back into the bucket to be pumped back in your plants will love this cause you keep you nutrient moveing so less chance of algea growing ( algea likes stagnant water ) plus when water moves it gets oxenigated so this will make your plants very very happy try it out .. p.s. this is a theoretical setup i was working with what you had but im sure it will work i have a similar theoretical setup.. ANY COMMENTS OR ADDONS TO THIS ARE WELCOMED !.. hope i helped..OVERGROW THE GOVERMENT WITH THE CHEEBA !!

![]() | Actually, after more reading and studying of different methods, I decided to go with a bubbler set up. It's a lot more convenient for me, and seems to give great results with minimal effort. I will post more on this in the diary section as time permits. So high off the chronic that my head is a helicopter.

![]() | you punk you made me type all that for nothing !! lol , just kidding , DWC a.k.a BuBBler is a very good setup for a very good price it can be used in several very good ways 2 of my favorites are #1. the 20 gallon container with lid and you cut 6 holes out of the top an drop net pots into them or #2. you get several large 3-5 gallon buckets with lids and splice the air pump so each bucket has an air tube this way you can grow even larger plants then in the large container , also individual buckets are alot easyer to deal with then one 20 gallon tub that you cant move lol, just remember which ever one you choose to get just remember to spray paint or tape up the outside to block the light other wise you will have a algea farm like i said , and the more bubbles and the finer they are the better !! ... tell me how it goes cause im going DWC soon..hope i helped..OVERGROW THE GOVERMENT WITH THE CHEEBA !!

![]() | ... I didn't mean to make you type so much Gen. lol. I went out and bought some supplies ant my local Home Depot, KMart, a pet store and Pep Boys. Thanks for the idea tho. I almost went with a similar type set up of constant flow, but the DWC seems to be just too easy to setup and maintain, so I thought I'd try it out. If you want, check out my diary post titled "My cheap Bubbler setup". Just a cut and paste of my current diary. HH
