Resevoir question/ meter question
permalink

I am about to start my adventure this weekend to grow some nice buds. I have a few things left to pick up and a few questions that I need answers to. #1 how often should the res water be changed? Can you just keep adding water/nutes... or is it better to dump everything on a certain schedule? #2 I will be purchasing a PH/TDS meter either today or tommorow... are there any reputable pen type models? I am leaning towards the more expensive continuous wall mounted models, are there any cons to this type of meter? And #3 how many quarts/gallons of Nutes/ PH down/up will I go through in my grow on average? I will be growing 10 clones and again I have a 30 gallon resevoir as mentioned earlier.

sup ,

top off your resevoir with ph balanced water...with no nutes...to maintain the level during the weak...adjust ph as needed...
every week replace entire nute/water solution, every 2nd week flush system with ph balanced water , then replace with new water/nute solution...
i have the hanna tri meter for tds..ph..and temp..its nice but costly..u can get a cheaper model of them, but they have good products...buy jug of gen hydro flora series that looks like a bleach container(not sure of size) and that will last you more than a few grows...

hope this helps..peace

The above was correct...

... As for the meter, get the expensive one. That is the KEY to your grow. Trust me, I know...

Where's Hydrosan when you need him.......

G'mornin' Folks,

I have been using a rule of thumb (or whatever Hydrosan uses in Aus)...that he posted a while back.......I think it said dump the sump when one has added 1/3 of total volume, in makeup water.....in my case with a 120 Ltr sump, I renew when I have added 40 (or 50) Ltr.......

The time between changes depends on a few important variables.....number of plants........the size and amount of foliage......and the humidity in the grow area......

Plants transpire as they breathe......and give up moisture to the atmosphere.......the lower the humidity the more transpiration.....

I first add the water.......I use spring water, locally.....and then wait about 15 min or a half hour.......test ph and TDS/EC......add some nute to bring TDS/EC back to the original level.....wait a bit more....test again.....and then adjust ph......the nutes have buffers that will change ph......

I use the Flora System......and when adding makeup nutes, I add Micro in the largest %, then whichever I'm doing at the time....Veg or Flower.....Gro od Bloom......and a touch of the other.......

I am an engineer by trade.....and usually think in absolutes.....I have learned that Hydro Growing is more like an art form...and one must learn what the plants are doing...and feed them accordingly.......
