Hi my Hanna tds meter only range from 0 - 999ppm? Did i waste my money or is the range good enough for hydro??

I didn't think to ask and it didn't say on the ebay listing. It was only $27 so I may just buy a better one. I'm still looking. I was thinking if you wanted to read higher than 999 ppm you could calibrate it up and then interpolate. That would be risky though.

it'll work but when measuring over 1000 your going to have to dilute. You also need to know what your water's ppm is.

Example: say your water is 250ppm and you want 1200 ppm of added nutes-- your basic mix will read out at 1450 ppm-- over your limit on your meter-- well, take a specific amount of the liquid to be tested and dilute it by exactly half-- now double that reading-- and subtract the ppm of the clean water

So lets say you take an 8 oz sample-- add another 8 oz. of clean water (measure carefully) Reading is 700-- double it-- 1400 -- subtract the 250ppm and you have 1150ppm
