Flushing PH Question
permalink

Hi All,

Setup:
16 gal DWC bubbler
2 airstones & 1 powerhead
430 HPS
temps: 70 - 73 lights on, 67 - 70 lights off
rh: 45 - 55 lights on, 60 lights off
strain: Mr. Nice - **** (yes thats the actual name)

Well I'm 10 days away from the big day so I started my flush yesterday. I ph'd my tap water (wich was left to sit for 36 hrs) to 5.8. I am hoping this is correct or does it even matter?

When I changed the res yesterday all was good but this morning when I checked the ph had risen to 6.4. I am just curious as to whether or not this is normal and to be expected on a daily basis? Is it because there are no nutes to stabalize it?

Its not a huge deal except that I go on holiday next week, the last week of flowering, and my buddy is going to look in on them everyday and he has very limited experience using hydro. I'm also having him turn the lights out for the last 3 days.

yup, pH drift is normal. you should educate him how to adjust your pH before you go. start at 5.8, let drift to 6.3, thne back down.

happy harvesting soon...

and when you do, don't forget to submit a strain submission

Thanks for the reply Skitz,

I was pretty sure that it was normal but was a bit worried about the amount. I have shown him how to adjust the ph and he has seen me do it a few times, so all should be good.

I was planning on filling up buckets (the ones I use to let my tapwater sit in and mix nutrients in) and adjusting the ph to 5.8 for when he is adding more water to the res. Hopefully it will work.

I will send in a strain submission when its all finished up.
