Hey i'm not sure if this is the right place but here goes...... My friend and his partner are moving house soon, in the new house theres two small cupboards that are gonna make nice flower and veg rooms. He already has a small grow going that i helped him with a while back, but this time we're gonna do it properly, No floro's this time, oh no, its real grow lights now. I found some nice 250W hps fairly cheap, gonna buy soonish We're gonna get some nice seeds aswell, no bagseed like we have now. I saw these pots (see pic) a while ago, there from Esoteric Hydroponics in the uk, I'v been debating if to get them or not for some time now, but i thought that this might be a good time to try them, BUT I wanted to get some feedback from you guys before i get them This is what the catalogue says: Price: £65 for 1-3 plants USA designed and built, mainly used in Holland and the States. Used for fruit, veg, herb and flower production, preferred by the larger plant grower, however will successfully grow any plant species. The kit consists of reservoir pot, inner pot, exterior air pump, clay pebbles, delivery tubes and full instuctions. Again, a novel and sound principle, the plant sits in the inner pot filled with clay pebbles which in turn sits in the clay pebbles thus resulting in excellent aeration to the root zone of the plant. When applied and maintained properly can speed up plant growth three fold and easily quadruple or more the yeild compared to soil. So what do you think?

It may just be me but, I'm a firm believer in building it yourself. Looks like a bubbler system except, rather than the plants hovering over water they are planted into the rock. 1- 3-5 gal bucket $5 1- net pot $1 5- gallons of lava rock $?? 1- Air pump $15 Take your air line and run it into the bucket. backfill with your rock to aprox 3-5" of the top. set your net cup ontop of the rock and fill in around it. hook up your air pump. Plant your seed in the net cup and whalaa you have just built the exact same thing for half the $$ ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey SFL, Yeah it's a good system for mother plants, i.e. 1 plant at a time and hvymtl is bang on with the 'DIY' thing, you could easily copy the design for a fraction of the price![]() Check out Nutriculture NFT systems first tho much more versitile for our hobby, and with such a low profile (8" vertical height including the res) they're much better for smaller spaces you can get a full kit for about £75, (nutes, cubes, pumps n all) check out greenleafsystems.co.uk for pics, they're also good with advice if you phone them about a system to purchase, number is on the site I used a 424 for years as my only system it's now home to mothers and for clones to pre-veg - versitility![]() San ![]() | ||

I'v already got buckets, grommets and hoses in all different sizes (I hope unused fuel pipe will do) i just need an air pump and a few little items. Should cost less than £10 for a pump, Will a fish tank air pump work?, i could find a powerful-ish one

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A fish tank air pump will work. The more powerful the pump, the more air it can push out. The more air in your bucket the better. If you spend a bit more you can get a larger air pump that could run multiple buckets if you plan on expanding later. Maybe run your mother and cloner?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well i was thinking that i'm gonna need at least 6 buckets, 2(or more) in the veg room and 4 in the flowering room cos flowering takes sooo damn long. I dont want no more than 4 flowering at a time (I might go for 6), but i always want some ready to start flowering as soon as one has been harvested, the four that are flowering will al be in different stages of flowering, i'm not sure about timing it to have a perpetual harvest, but i'm sure i will learn But for now i just want one to experiment with, but i might as well get a big pump to start with to save having to buy one at a later date

Good thinking!!! These Hydro setups you see on the net are so easy to build! I cannot figure out why anyone would buy one (?) I'm not much of a grower BUT, If you were ever to step foot into my home you would see one of every setup there is. If you ever get interested in a Hydrofarm aero just let me know. You can build one of them for aprox 1/6 of the list price Later ![]()

A cheap one to test your systems with is a good idea. If you are planning on buying a large airpump, you may want to look into small air compressors. I had been trying to find one powerful enough and quiet enough to run what I wanted, but then I switched to aero and didn't need the air pumps ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm no DIY guy when it comes to hydro systems so a while back I bought a Universal Garden system. The convenience of it is what attracted me to it. The price was a little steep but to me, well worth it. Check out the results of my latest grow below if you'd like to see why someone would buy a ready made system. db rock on dude ![]()
