I have a medium size 120 gal tank and have the best production with Ecogrow and Ecobloom by Ecogrow.com. This stuff can great for one gal or many gal's Tried the GH stuff and had very bad luck. Neat colors but production was off. The best thing to invest in is real good test gear, ppm and ph. The normal stuff you see from hydo shop are great for grandma petunia's. Best money you will spend. Its like driving a car without a steering wheel and no brakes.

This is the ultimate way to use fertilizers.
1 start out at 1/4 the recomended amount.
2 feel your plant's they are alive a growing thing.
Then adjust from there
The tank size makes it easy to adjust how much fertlizer. If you need a 5 gallon tank get a 10 or 15. If you put a tad extra in a 5 gal you over shoot the fertz or the ph. I like a pump just mixing up the stuff. Here are some sites with some great info
Fill and drain system , Hydrocorn, fertz at 1500-2000. ph at 5.2-5.6 fill and drain for 30 min 3 times a day. Clones in perlite/vermulite 50/50% Woods solutions, Eco bloom and grow. Grow time 18/6 bloom 12/12 Co2 1500 ppm , max, min temp 70-95 grow bloom 55-95, light flor start, mh grow and bloom.
