I wait a little longer than most to transplant the clones into the baskets. It is possible to transplant a clone into the basket right when you see a root pop out of the cube ... but I wait until MANY roots are coming out from the cube (sometimes, a root will even grow vertically out the top of the cube). When cloning, I use those little black rockwool trays ... each tray holds 6 cubes. These trays allow the roots a small dark and humid place to grow under the cube and direct a lot of the root growth out the bottom of the cube. I wait until the longest roots are 2-3 inches long. The longer roots allows you to make sure that there are roots on the bottom of the basket, and that the cube is not sitting in a pool of water (which can cause stem rot). For this first fill, I cheat a little. I will fill the reservoir right to the bottom of the baskets (where I know the roots are) ... Ensuring that none of my fragile clones will die of dehydration (which happens damn fast to young clones without a water supply). After all the clones have thier legs in the water, your water level should be, at maximum, within 1" of the bottom of your baskets. Always keep your water level above the halfway mark ...below that, the ppm soars and you plants will hurt. Welcome to the wonderful world of hydro Elzz You'll never look back ![]() C.C.

It seems like they have covered the high points. I usually leave my bubbles on 24/7 and leave the water just below the bottom of the web pot after the roots have emerged -- I keep the water about a half inch up on the net pot till the roots show up. A little trick that works for me is I have a long funnel that I got in the auto department at Kmart and I use it like a spyglass to look in the bucket at the roots thru the hole where I add the the water and nutes which I cover when not in use. I also installed drains with plastic ball valves on the bottom of all my buckets so I can drain the nutes completely out and refill without lifting plants or buckets. About the nutes I have been using about 50 to 60 percent of the nutes recommended on my successful grows when I moved up to 75 to 100 percent of the recommeded concentrations my pot tasted really harsh and did not perform as well -- kinda like the plants were stunted. I use RO water and technaflora nutes for what its worth. Good Luck and remember if it works for you IT WORKS and if it doesn't work for you ----- well you get it. Bill

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i just read a grow journal wher somebody grew blue mystic in a DWC.. they started with rockwool and then put the rockwool into hydroton filled mesh pot.. all with pictures of what it looks like. it was very helpful to actually see the stuff i was tryin to do. I think before, i was just scared of the plants trying to start ther lives with no nutrients from the soil.. but now i realize u can keep them alive for quite a while before puting them into the bubbler itself.
