5"x5" Plastic Pots OK?
permalink

I'm using small 5x5 square plastic pots to veg my 6 BB clones in. But they are growing at a rapid rate and are now about 8 inches tall. I'm using a small ebb n flow hydro setup and i was wondering if i need to transplant? How tall should the plants get before i have to move them from these 5x5 plastic pots? I'm afraid of getting rootbound.

These are a little over two feet tall and are in the 5x5's:

One plant per container. How bigs your table that holds the containers?

Yep, I use them in my e/f tray. If your doing SoG, or small to medium sized plants, they'll be just fine. I wouldn't recommend them for bush style growing, though. I've had some plants grow to 32", which yielded around 2-2 1/2 oz's +/-....Top heavy, but not rootbound.

is it the taller the plant the more yield? I'm using the smallest hydro tray. It would perfectly hold 8 of the 5x5 square plastic pots.

Yes and no,

It will give you more because taller plants have more fan leaves & foilage, but were not growing for leaves (shake) but rather for bud, so excess plant height isn't generally done.

As for the original ? I use (5x) 5x5 net pots in a rubber maid bubber basin and have never had a problem with 4+ ft plants.

Good growing, oh and welcome to the forum
