As my HPS is just five feet away from my vent window, something had to be done to prevent that orange glow from being seen from above (The utility meters are right next to the ground opening for the window) Full credit to BD or LB (I think) for the idea of a baffled box. The idea was originally applied to a closet, i believe. Searched for it but couldnt find it The pics are pretty self explanatory...

![]() ![]() | With the fan in place, all that has to be done is caulk and tape the box airtight. there is a screen on the outside of the window to keep the larger bugs out and the fan will be running full time to hopefully keep the smaller flying ones out

Light leaks and air leaks. The box with filters actining like baffels and air filters. This box set up works from a closte to a 13 x 12 x 8 room http://www.gardenscure.com/420/showt...threadid=12225 With cleaner air and positive pressure the small leaks push out bugs. Note the box will hold the normal 435 cfm fans assy. For smaller rooms a simple bathroom vent fan can be installed inside the box by moving the filter assy back. Next time I would paint everything black anyway, just to be safe. You can hear the fan about 5 feet away if it quiet out and smell it a little bit further out than that. Hey, I was worried about winter. Do you think when its below zero out that Ill be venting a gout of steam from there? Like the dryer vent? I suppose thats way more warm and humid, but Ill still worry about it till I can go out and check in person Smokin.

About that funny smell..... Although I hadn't though of building in such a nice looking box all in the same space I had an almost close idea.. What I think I'd like to do is seeing how that side window is not to to far from the neighbors I was concerned about venting that way, and of course the light. So what I wanna try is duckting some of that 4" foil pipe from the grow room over to the dryer exhaust and tieing it in with a Y. This with a few 140CFM box fans inline should suk both the heat and any strange oders from the space. One think I liked about going thios way was it would now vent out the back of the house and have plenty of room to ........not stink all over the neighbors )If this sounds like a bad idea Id like to hear where it'll go wrong? Oh and I covered the window with insulation and cardboard so it can be changed should I still have a heat problem... feed back ? Smokinit...

![]() | i personaly am growin out of a basement and I just put up a piece of black poster board to block any direct light from the vent and it blocked the rest thru the maze inside the box... completly dark outside... but that is my intake... exhaust is thru natural convection thru the chimney. my $.02 njtva ![]()
