Ok, I germinated, the potted into 4" pots. (24) of them are now 8 days old. I am trying to keep them in small pots till they get to 8" then 12/12 them so I can pick out the males. Question is , can I keep them in 4" pots till they differentiate, or should I transplant them into bigger pots now, then 12/12 them? Check the pic out, this is 8 days... Please let me know, I don't want to stunt their growth.

![]() | Those pots will probably get you to 8". Just keep an eye out for rootbound. The plants growth will slow or stop. Leaves will start yellowing, then dying from the bottom up. As long as you have vigourous growth...you are okay...when they slow down...transplant. 4" pots will NOT be enough to get you all the way thru veg. You will stunt them. cy ![]()

![]() | Well TY for the info. I was only going to veg them to 8" then put them into 12/12. I don't have much space in my closet and I just need enough time to differentiate males and get them out. Then I was going to transplant. But it doesnt look like I'm going to get to do that. What size would you suggest to transplant to? Keep in mind Im low on space and I'm only vegging to 8 - 10", then 12/12.

I have read about the 1/2 gallon rule, where you need to plan on a 1/2 gallon of pot space per foot of plant height. If you begin flowering at 12", the plant should roughly double, possibly even more, meaning you should plan on at least 2 feet of height. That requires a 1 gallon pot. I would estimate that is around 8". I never did the calculation, but it looks about right. I would be on the safe side and go 10", although that will significantly increase your growing area. Good Luck ![]()

![]() | I got the tape measure out and I have room for 15 of my 23 left, if I trans to 8" pots. If I can get thru to 2 weeks of 12/12 then I can trans the Fems to bigger pots. What you think about transplanting again when Fems show?, or you guys think 8" pots will do if I 12/12 at 8" tall? Sticky, thanks for the general rule, I forgot that one (LOL, very stoney right now) I posted in the nursury but I think it has to do with this "Pot Size" subject were speaking of. Yellowing of tips, check the pic. Tha Hydro shop sold me "Iron Green" from shultz. 8-0-0, but, It says "Urea" Nitrogen. I did a test and show surplus of P-K but a huge diffeciency on the N side. Is this Urea Nitrogen - Nitrogen? or should I get Bloodmeal and Fish Emulsion to add regular Nitrogen?

Dig - If you have 23 right now prior to sexing, you should only plan on 12 females. You may be able to fit these in your grow space with 10" pots. If not, look at how many you may be able to space in your area with 10" pots. Personally, I would choose quality over quantity. Pick your 10-12 healthiest females (unless you want to seed and then pick your #1 male also) and put them in 10" pots so they can max out during the flowering stage. If you top, then you might try ScrOG (putting chicken wire over the plants and tying off the colas to make the growth a higher yield - try a search for more info). Good luck and keep us informed. ![]()

![]() | StickyGreenKind Why TY for the info. I will look up that SCOG info for sure. I agree on the 10 for quality but, I would have to trans before sexing, they are in 4". I was trying to last till sexing but I don't think thats going to happen. Now its a race between just picking 15 and praying or getting the money together for a 800W Dual Spectrum, then it's on. I'm hoping for the latter, LOL.

Man them grow guides need to be updated *shakes head* 1/2 gallon per foot isnt right, you need to at least give them a gallon per foot tall, that way you wont have to worry if they are rootbound I'm not just saying this either, I did a comparison 1/2 gallon and a whole gallon and the 1 gallon was better in the long run more leg room ![]() Smoker ![]()

![]() | I have heard people say a gallon, and say a 1/2 gal. I would have to lean towards the gallon, due to noone knowing exactly how long and wide the root system of a healthy plant could and will get. I would think it would all depend on health and pruning. Still stuck with lack of space though, LOL. But if I only had that light...
