I answered in my "Slowest Grow on Earth" thread - but for the sake of continuity - I'm crossing each strain with itself so I don't hafta buy more seeds of that strain. Plus I'm making a few crosses for my own consumption.

I know a lot of indoor growers hate to start from seed, but I really like that part of the growth process. So if I ever want to go back to a strain, I have the seeds. Then I can use bananas!

I wonder if I put a nana down by a new clone or the mom if it might make a difference.

Hi Cheese, the stuff I do sometimes. I've been meaning to post here for a while, I was browsing JV's journal, they were talking about bananas, then you posted, and I forgot where I was, I posted my Banana Religeon in his journal, even said " Hi Cheese" (thank God for edit button). Pics didn't cut and paste, so I'll have to repost pics.

Hi JV, I've had my 5 plants exposed to 2 bananas from day 20 to day 30 or 31.
I think these nanners have paid their debt to horticulture.





My prediction is that tall cowboy on the right is gonna be a male.





Maybe because he was on the periphery? I've never seen this addressed or claimed before, but when I grew years ago, I felt I could often spot males before flowering. They had a certain look to them, grew taller faster, longer inter-nodal length, squarer, woodier stem. Most plants are inconclusive, but the ones I thought I knew, I was right more often than wrong. Do you ever sense anything like that?

I can often pick them out too. The strongest, fastest growing plant is generally, as you said, male.

I read somewhere (here?) that the 'tall male' trait developed because the tallest males in a patch/field of pot would have better/earlier dispersal of pollen.
Appears to make sense.

Makes me wonder if we will see that trait diminish as we are not breeding for it.

...Seems as if the 'theory' was proven decades ago...as well, the 'speculation' of what forces are at work is fully known eh.
