Thanks folks!

I'm really glad so many people tried this experiment. Without you, I'd have wondered about my theory for years.

I'm sorry some of you got males despite the bananas. That just shows that the bananas only increase the chances of getting a female plant, they don't guarantee it.

Actually the hermy bananas work best. They cost a bit more though.

Male plants have flowers too. They are male flowers that produce pollen.... but flowers none the less... and beautiful flowers too.

Well so far, 2 confirmed females 1 male (Introduced him to the garbage disposal) I have 1 that the jury is still out on but it's looking pretty much like it will be female. just waiting for a pistol.. So that will be 3 out of 4. Coincidence??

It's enough to convince me to stock up on bananas when I start a new grow!!

I don't normally grow from seed, cloning is so much faster and easier, however if I'm after a particular strain I'll start from seed. I will go nanners next time I sprout from seed tho, whats a few starving monkeys in the scheme of things? I wonder though, could hermies be coaxed into this cult? Say after cuttings show roots, take then to banana church and show them the way? I have a strain that tends to cross dress when I'm not looking, and I hate picking bananas.

Yeah I imagine you could use the Ethylene to your advantage in that situation. Give it a go...this is an experiment in the works, we'll never know if you don't give it a try...but I suspect it will work well.

I'm having another problem with my banana.

It is attracting rather large fruit flies.
