Maybe I can add a bit more to this debate in terms of numbers...
I currently have 72 seeds (7 strains) in ziplocks with banana skins and paper towels. I plan on them being in there for about 7-10 days, then into Oasis cubes with bananas and maybe an apple or two until week 4+ (or until they go out).
Possibly even more interesting is one of the strains is Nirvanas Early Special. This is an Indica-Ruderalis autoflowering hybrid. I'm interested to see how the ruderalis hybrid responds to this method.

P.S. I should mention that I'm also using folic acid on the germ so that may also effect the ratio. Not exactly a double-blind controlled study, but at least we'll be able to see the effects on a larger amount.

I admit I haven't read the entire thread but did keep up with it for a few weeks when it started. I just don't use seeds and thought to read the thread when I did.

I am running a colchicine test. I started from seeds I crossed my self.
Long story short it appears I have at least 3 out of 10 being male (maybe a couple more will show today/tomorrow)

Each of the 10 plants was topped prior to going 12/12 and the clones are doing well.

Would it be worth it to grow the clones out a bit using a banana and go to 12/12 to see if the sex might reverse itself?

Has this been done yet-worth it???

If you could reverse the sex of a clone then that would really be something!

I have two clones right now that were from male plants as well, maybe i should add to them to the test.

...from what i've read about the banana religion the critical window is hypothesized to be between 3-4 weeks post germination. In all likelihood the clones were taken after that point (i know mine were). If has the ability to responde to chemical triggers in the environment that influence the sex phenotype, then i wonder if this so called window has already opened and closed for a clone?

I would just plant extra seeds. I usually get more than enough females and I end up getting rid of some, there's just not enough room for all of them for me to grow indoors sometimes. I like my plants to have plenty of room not crowded into a small area.

if this guy really works on my crop i will be a beleiver. i am definatly trying this out. i think thiers more sci. behind it then religion, i beleive in God . but since he watches everything i guess that includes weed. so maybe + God can help me this one.

srry about putting in my religion and everyone one is entitled to thier own but..

i want to atheists.

btw i was wondering since bananas carry a little THC in them is that possibly another reason helps?

I don't see how THC could affect sex - but again I don't really know all the science behind the Banana Religion.

by the way smoking banana peals does work. it takes like 3 joints and is kinda hard to make..and a little headache..but it works..

also, the banana religion is used by alot of people. so i am trying it. i have a seedling and it has banana next to it. so i will report back the results. i hope its true!

This is purely speculation but I've been thinking of what exactly rotting fruit would do for plants. The answer I've come up with is by no means complicated, and I like to stick to simple answers It seems to me that maybe rotting fruit/ethylene may basically be signifying fertile ground to surrounding plants. I don't know for sure but from what I do know is female flowering plants tend to require more fertile ground to successfully ripen.

To me it makes sense. Female ratios rise, and ripening is induced, or even sped up. It's already been said that the plant receives the gas through the air, so the word pheremones pops to mind. Other plants use them, it's seems very likely MJ could to.

I'd like to hear what you guys think on this
