Right on that was what I was trying to get at. Has anyone tested Ethrel or Straight ethylene gas on MJ. You say they have, and it works. Thats great. Guess I will have to see about getting either ethrel or ethylene gas in the future when growing from seed.

For treating seeds and small seedlings you will probably get better results using ethylene gas rather than ethrel.

That's exactly right. If you read the paper referenced, ethylene does in fact promote feminization in male adult cannabis plants. It actually reverses the sex of the plants... unfortunately, it will not make you male plants or seeds female, it will merely make your male plants produce female flowers.... until you remove the ethylene, and then the female flowers stop and change into weird male flowers, and then male flowers.

I saw a post on reversing a male, and then ceasing the ethylene exposure on highbred. The guy had some pretty cool pics, too!

I had bananas around my plants for days 10-40 of veg. Out of 3 Hashberry and 3 Papaya plants, 3/6 are female (2 HB, 1 Pap).

Last grow I was 3/3 females with Afghani #1.

before hearing of bananas, 90% females more or less.

after hearing about bananas and trying from one to lots.

90% males, more or less.

in three grows since christmas....

fortunatly i had some clones so i got smokes at the moment, but i was selfsuffiecent before hearing about bananas! ah havent been smoking anything of mine but mostly males for months! thank god for drugdealers!

edit: oh, after i dropped the bananas, 2 females, crossing fingers on the ones still in veg

Same here. I only had males until I decided to drop the bananas. I just got my first female in months... without bananas. (growing 1 plant at a time)

I'm a non-believer. It may not cost a lot but reciting the alphabet backwards 4 times a day neither... Both are futile IMHO.

before i had to chop my plants all 6 were females... 100% success. with bananas of course..


Maybe i got lucky, maybe God supports me growing, or maybe bananas increase your grow rate..

i used to work in a greenhouse and would see blurbs about ethelene gas in tjhe trade magazines aside from some empirical testing i'm going to look up
some university agriculture websites

I highly doubt the amount of ethylene gas produced through the ripening process of a couple of fruits does anything. Thats why I think it would be more effective to try a pure ethylene injection. Im sure this discussion has a couple people looking into the value of adding a ethylene injection similar to C02.
At what ppm does one need to achieve to produce viable results? hmm....

Do you think I should plant a banana tree in my greenhoue?

I have failed in trying to participate in this thread. My plants are outdoors
and I just don't think the banana thing would work outside.
