| ahhh .... so this is the Banana Technique (I avoid religion like the plague  )So what is it ... the off gassing ethylene of ripening bananas that promotes the female gender? This should be interesting .... I'll certainly give it a try, what harm can it do? Other than attracting fruit flies I suppose  Do you shut down your ventilation fan for the banana duration? I would think with a fan blowing about, the ethylene would just be blown away .... dissipated into the air, therefore not effective at all  Perhaps a less direct approach to ventilation .... throttle the fan way down, and point it away from the plants. Think that will work? Well .... off to smoke a joint, then on to the monumental task of peeling potatoes  Seize the day everyone .... Happy Thanksgiving!  jv

| JV my fans blow on the walls and the ventilation bounces back to the plants so it is a very gentle breeze in there. As for blowing off the ethylene, I suppose it is possible. Part of me thinks the ethylene is pretty pervasive as I only used bananas on two plants out of 4 on the table and all 4 were female. I know I'd never put a banana of my e&f table if I wanted a male. BTW, you don't want to keep a banana so long you get fruit flies! Toss it and put another one down.

| I always used Florel around 3rd week in veg. Florel is nothing but ethephon which is converted into ethylene as the stomata absorb it. (Foliar spray) Usually worked fine w/huge percentage of all that I've grown (around 95%) But due to circumstances I've had to change my growing area. I have had to use a cabinet as a flowering chamber about 3 1/2 ft tall w/HPS light. All of my plants start showing pistils 1-weeks flower---but they seem to be shriveling then developing lotsa nanners!  I thought it was the heat--or maybe my Florel is oldIs it possible for the plant to hermie into a predominantly male entity AFTER it has shown pistil preflowers and development? Is it the heat/humidity? Peace love and hairgrease EM

| Old Thymer asked me if any of my plants had hermied, which they have not. But I only grew four "banana female" plants.
