  | I put in green bananas at 21 days & let the banana get just short of bugs before I toss it and use another if I have to toss it before day 35 or so. Gee JV, I've never really thought about per foot banana requirements. I can say that 2 bananas worked for the 4 plants I had on a 3'x3' e&f table. And since I've just used 1 banana per plant. I'll honestly say I don't know.

| I'm sorry if this has been addressed but has anybody ever heard if plantains produce as much or more? Also, do you think the baby bananas (About 1/4 the size) would be bad? I am thinking it would be easier to use more of those if you have a smaller pot.

| It hasn't been addressed as far as I know. So I went a googling. I found this page on plantains but I can't find the equivalent for bananas.  Quote:

| So if they recommend bananas to ripen plantains, then plantains must not ripen plantains as well as bananas ripen plantains, then I would think bananas better source of ethylenes (sp?) ( Who's on first?) What sparked my attention was " hasten ripening?" Bananas at flower time?

| So sorry darlin' - I wish you'd seen it too! I'm self-promoting my idea a lot as it is ... Like I said - it's a religion because I believe it works, but I don't have any scientific facts to back it up. I'm not going to be able to do the experiment for awhile because I want males to make F2's of the strains I have on my list. So I turned to the community and we'll see what happens.
