![]() | Actually, I just relied on the grace of God... ![]() But, a smoke-detector would be a good idea, I DID keep a fire-extinguisher handy, even hooking up a sprinkler-system would probably be a good idea, if you could commit the work/money. Another thing is to be aware of how fires get started, and to avoid making conditions favorable for fire to destroy your plants/grow area. Stay saf! Slim

![]() | fire alarms arent a bad idea, i suppose in an emergency i could use the 5 gallons or so that i have for watering. Im interested to see what others have to say, may end up using some of the suggestions. 420...bonghits

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A smoke alarm by the area is an excellent idea. Also, keep a small fire extinguisher handy as well. In general, even with out a grow room it is a good idea ![]() In case of an electrical fire DO NOT THROW WATER ON IT or it will just make it worse. First thing you need to do is throw the Main breaker to the house or that particular circuit if it hasn't already tripped then use the extinguisher OR sand to put out the flames in the area of an outlet. So you can see why an extinguisher is preferred here. LB

![]() | DoW, i cant say that i know how much fire extinguishers are, but you can always store quite a bit of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) this will work for just about any fire if its enough to cover the flame, fire alarms shouldnt be more than $10 i suppose. you said yours used to go off from the steam off of your shower, which is very odd, smoke alarms work by monitoring the area for carbon monoxide and smoke particles from a fire. it seems very strange that steam would set it off, maybe a very low grade unit? 420...bonghits

![]() | I think some smoke alarms aren't actually smoke alarms at all, rather they have heat sensors in them that trip when the heat in the room reaches a certain temp. Since steam rises, that's probably why they trip from a hot shower. I have one of these in my apt and the retards here put a wall heater right underneath it, so every time I turn on the heat, it goes off. Luckily the climate here is nice and it doesn't really get that cold. So if you go buy a smoke alarm (which you most definitely should), make sure it's *just* a smoke alarm. I think some of them have a smoke and a heat sensor. Plain old smoke alarms should't be more than $5-10 US. -J ![]()

| im just finishing up my new grow room. i put an outlet in my attic so i could use it and there is insulation everywhere up there. its the loose kind that goes on the floor ( i put my outlet on the floor )makes me nervous. i cleared the area that the outlet is in, but i still dont like it. anyone know if it could be a problem? i think i definately will get an alarm and an extinguisher. sounds like a great idea just because. | ||
