This is the idea. I have a 400w HPS security light. I want to mount this fan on the back of the light. Cut one big hole for the fan itself and small holes near the glass.

The question is can I wire the 2 wires on the fan directly into the extinction cord I attached to the light?

I guess I should rephrase the question. How would I wire the fan to the same supply wire that supplies the ballast?

I could if I wanted to. However, I would like the fan to turn with the light. No separate timer needed.

ok then connect the timer to the power outlet in the wall and connect a (hummmm dont know what its called in english)
extension cord with multiple outlets to the timer. Then hook everything up to the multiple outlet cord and u have everything on the same timer

I guess u can hook it up like that but i wouldnt recomend it if u arent familiar with electrics and stuff. And those multiple outlet extension cords cant cost more than 2-4$ isnt that better than death through electrocution or a burnt down house coz of bad wireing.

So you saying just hook one of the two wires on the fan to the common wire and the other to ground?

Come on guys, I have seen some of you do some amazing things. I would think that if I can handle hooking up the power supply an addition fan wouldn’t be a big deal. Looking for some confirmation here.

Be Smart
Invest in a 6 prong outlet you can plug into ONE outlet
in the wall, that is what I have and I have the light, the
fan, the ionizer, the second light ALL pugged into one
outlet...and it works!
