| you guys be really careful playing with those transformers...there's enough power even in a small neon transformer to burn your butt to a krisp... another fun thing to do is take two metal coathangars and shape them into a "V", but not connected together at the bottom, just hook each one up the terminals of the transformer...you'll get a cool jacob's ladder...great fun around holoweenie... | ||

Hello there! Im a huge fan of homebuilt Ozone generators...there is a big improvement over the foil/jar method. And a much safer one, too. Go to the craft store...(ACMoore, etc) 1.)Get a cheap picture frame, about 8" x 10" 2.)Get some glass etcher cream 3.)Get a hot glue gun and some glue sticks 4.)And some solder, and a soldering iron. 5.)Any neon sign transformer (hint - EBAY!) 6.)Metal window screen(Lowes, Home Depot) Ok, now: Remove the cardbord backing from the frame, take the glass out. Completely etch both sides of the glass. Dry the glass off, and place it back in the picture frame. Hold it in place with the tabs. Cut out two pieces of screen, about 6" x 8". Now, take your hot glue gun and glue a piece of screen to either side of the glass. (so that they are in the same position). Its best to glue the screen on with 'spots' of glue every 1.5" or so. Kind of like a 'grid' of glue points. Bend up a tab on each corner of screen, and attach each lead from the transformer to each piece of screen. Solder the leads in place. Now, turn on transformer... OZONE GALORE!!! For safety, Ive got the whole contraption in wooden box, with a box fan on top. I only need to run it for like 15 seconds to clear out my whole apartment of anything remotely odorous. Heck, the whole building smells like a waterfall ![]() There is a big thread on this somewhere, with a bit more specifics. Also, some plans on building an Ozone generator with UV lights. (which would be perfectly quiet). The neon transformer method costs about $25 to build, the UV light method about $100. Either way, you save a bundle. Just make sure to put your generator in something non-conductive. PM me if youve got any Q's. Take care. Awake

My freind can get neon beer signs for 50 bucks. Is there anyway I could get a beer sign and disconnect the transformer without ruining the sign? Or are they really just that cheep

Just disconnect the transformer from the neon tubes...there are only two wires. When you want to use the sign again just reconnect it. You may have to cut the wires, but just resolder them or use solderless connectors or something similar. Awake

![]() | I dont have a growroom yet, just going to build it soon. So I was thinking of the metter of eleminating the smell too. About the mounting question i have an idea. I think I am gonna do the following for eleminating the smell. I will build my growroom in a size that I will have a box in it (on the top or at the bottom of the plant's growspace) but seperated from the space for the plants. I will put the ozone generator or ionizer (or whatever smell eleminator) in this box and I will ventillate the outcoming air through it. Like the smelly air has to come through of a space with fully ozonized air. I hope I expalined it understandable... ![]() any comments on it?
