![]() | Awake204... what voltage is good to use with the method you mentioned above? (experimenting is bad... I like tried and true when it comes to things that can burn my place down)...

Im using a 7500v neon sign transformer, although you really can use any voltage transformer you can find. As far as burning your place down - I really wouldnt worry about it too much. You can run the Ozone generator for a long while, and the screen isnt even warm to the touch. While the voltage going through the system may be high, I dont believe the current (amperage) is all that high - I think its like 30 milliamps. And its the current that creates the heat/electrocutes you to death. Just make sure you mount the device onto something non conductive and youll be all set. Hold on, Im going to do an experiment..... Ok, just to prove my point, I took a piece of printer paper, and held it to the screen while the ozone generator was running, for about 20 seconds. No heat, no flames, I didnt die Here, check this out: http://www.smud.org/safety/world/sit...ce/basics.html a link to a site talking about the basics of electric current and whatnot. Awake

I've been trying to find, for a while now, an alternative to the neon sign transormer that i may find lying around say... a dumpster. I have never had my hands on a neon sign transformer to see the specs(voltage and current) I've always read like 7000v to 15,000 volts for neon sign transformers... Awake204 mentioned his was around 30milliampes, and i assume the more current you had the more ozone you would make, more heat too. So I guess my question is whether anyone can offer advice as to current/amperage ratios, current limits, voltage limits. I imagine there is a fairly simple equation for temperatures but you'd have to find the resistance of your glass which may present a problem unless you have some nice electronic equipment. I think it would be of great benefit to all of us if we could get together a nice little chart that gave relation between voltage, current, resistance, and heat. Also if anyone may know exactly how this ozone is made in this process PLEASE offer your words. I'm gonna try and get my stoner ass off the couch here in the next few days to maybe get this figured out. phrogg ![]() .... maybe some specs from manufacturers could lead to a fairly reasonable estimate of voltage/ozone output ratios. There probably wouldn't be that much variation as to efficiency...?

| hey phrogg, check here - there's all sorts of info on ozone. i built a tesla coil some years back, it used a 15 kV, 300 ma. neon transformer. i made a glass capacitor from 1/2" plate glass and aluminum foil. i wound a secondary coil on a 12" pvc pipe that stood 4 feet high. it was a work of art. the high voltage from the tesla coil burnt holes through the glass! and you want ozone? it was wild - huge sparks 2+ feet long - flying all over the place, the ozone was so thick you cut it with a knife. but this probably all belongs in another thread... you'll find lots of good stuff in that link. be careful. | ||

![]() | WE used something simmilar to that in physics class, except the kids stole it from the teacher and used it to electrocute random kids around the school. amazingly nobody ever got hurt from it, however it did throw us across the room a few times. its worth a try. never tried it for de-odorizing, but if you wanna have sum fun electrocuting each other... be my guest Firm

![]() | Someone mentioned excessive use of the ozone generator will harm your plants and your health. how do you know when to stop? as soon as the odor has been eliminated? will this effect the growth/quality of the planths, considering the environment has changed quite dramatically?

![]() | duuuuuude, you dont realize how poisinous ozone is... in pure concentrations it will literally eat you from the inside out via your lungs! but in the way we are using it, these 'ozone' generators actually generate very little ozone. I believe our noses can smell it in the 10 particle's per billion range... which means you'll definately smell it long before it will start hurting you. it smells much the same as a very smoggy city smells on a hot day, or kinda like when you have an electric motor running, or anything that sparks... we all know the smell, but it doesnt become harmful unless its really high concentrations. Unless you breathe small amounts everyday, because its a cumulative poisin, you'll be safe. So this goes out to all lephrochauns that live in your grow room, treat them well while they're alive, they'll treat you even better when they're dead. Firm

Well, that means this ozone generator thing is still not a good idea, considering people will be using this device to elimate odour everyday
