Yea you can do the perpetual harvest method without doing clones you will just need seeds to continue the cycle -

If this is Unfeasible - I would suggest growing 2 maybe 3 BIG Female Mother Plants -

Cut clones off them - And flower those

Send Brindie a PM - She does something similar to this and could sort out any questions you have

As for the Veg room -

Well if it isnt light proof then the flowering room probably wont be either ..

The veg room doesnt need to be light proof though no ..

But if you have veggin on 18/6 or 20/4 and flowering is on 12/12

Then the flowering room is only going to be on when the veg room is on anyway --

Its just a matter of when the flowering room turns off .. the Veg room will still be on .. So you need to make sure its lightproof

I think i explained that correctly hehe its getting alittle late here

Knore is doing a great job here! I would suggest staying away from clones though. That way you will be able to grow all sorts of strains. See which ones you like the most. With clones you will have the same type of weed harvest after harvest after harvest. As for the rooms, I would build solid walls and not use mylar. It is always better to go heavy duty for insulative purposes. 400 MH for veg is PERFECT, and 600 HPS is perfect for flower. Sounds like you have it all figured out already!

So I should do the seedling thing continously. Let me repeat myself in saying that I've never grown before. Once I step up to some good beans from a bank, how do I keep myself in seeds without having to repeatedly pay the high prices for them? Am I wrong in thinking that properly grown ladies will have no seeds? Or are there seeds present even in properly grown ladies? I don't want to keep any males, correct, even if just for seeds? They wouldn't be good seeds to use to keep my perpetual going, right? Teach me right, now, as I have never done this before. You're working with a fresh canvas here and I want to be a masterpiece

Thanks again

ive heard that clones loose there potency after a while if you clone from a flowering plant.i take clones from the plants before i put them in the flowering box.i keep them under floros during the vegging.less energy .and put them under a 400w hid during flowering

When you germinate your seedbank seeds and grow your first grow, you will come out with males and females. If you want to keep that strain alive, you will need to fertilize one of the females with one of the males.
You are correct, if you don't keep any males, your ladies will be seedless. I don't see why you wouldn't want to keep a male or two, just to resupply your seed stash. You know the males would be the same strain as your females, so no cross-strain...until you want to

Good growing,

Smell

Oo ooo that smell could be a problem with your proposed grow room.

Assuming your running central air/heat. There will be a draw on the room to pull the air to the central return. Every time you would open the door to the room Wooossssh you would allow the smell to enter into the comman area.

Solution = A double door entrance so you could step in and close the first door, then open the second.
This would help control the wooossssh effect.

Venting to the attic. (ever had a critter die in the attic and smelled it)

Solution = Install a covered vent pipe in the roof and connect to it.

Noise polution from lights and fans?

Solution - They make wall board that has good sound damping features

Some questions to ponder about room:

The electrical load?

Heat build up? The central thermostat will not know it.

Be nice to run a small water line to the room.

Hey there 'Ere,
sounds like you got the room you need to support a fine hobby!! After playing with different designs, some of my own and others, I discovered 1 thing: If marijuana is not addicting, I promise you growing it is!! Incorporate everything you can afford or get your hands on. Best of luck and keep us all posted!!

I have one suggestion before you start...

Make sure you have more than adequate power. I would want at least 2 30A's preferably 3 30A's going to that area if you ever plan on maxing it out. It's much more convienant to have the electrician over to run thicker, better wiring, and install a heavier breaker on it before you start than after, eh? And you can have him drop outlets where it will be most convienant for you at the same time.

Someone using the space as an office area probably didn't have a lot of high power appliances running. You will. Getting thicker wiring put in also reduces fire hazards.

If your electrician ask about it, tell him/her you plan to run a shop smith, some compressors, and other stuff in the garage. Very convienant excuse.

for the smell

you could use an ozone generator. I just picked one up on ebay for $127. I know it's more money but it sounds like you are investing some anyway. That should handle the smell.

The electrician idea is a good one too. Do that as soon as you move in. Not uncommon to add things when you first buy. You could tell them you run ALOT of computer type equipment.

Don't discount clones so easily. While keeping a mother and taking clones is a pain, you could just clone your best plants on a one shot basis. That would cut some of the veggin cycle down and you'd know you have a female. I've done that on my grow (at least I'm trying to root 'em now).

Good luck with it. You are on the right track.

Come moving day I want to see some pictures! Pictures paints a thousand words so save yourself the effort I like Tx's idea with fixing the 'woosh' effect although.. as you described it the room is in the back of the garage neh? I suppose just doing your daily gardening and opening the garage door would work as well. Have a look at Bonzai mothers if you don't want to dish out the money for top notch seeds. As far as I know, the bonzai mothers can be kept under fluors, or in your veg room .. all they require is frequent root trimmings to keep their height and girth down. Good luck with this, you've got the potential, now use it!
