(swing and a miss! ) During the winter, my plants are in a room that is 68 degrees. I have a 250 watt mh on them which raises the temp about 10 degrees. This is open air. If you want you can enclose your grow with a box and reflective material, that would help maintain heat, but like me when you are on 12/12 it gets as cold as it gets, you know? Good luck, Plains

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Rather than ask how cold MJ can be grown in, try to provide the ideal environment and adjust the environment to the plant, not the other way around ![]() If you biuld a box and lag it with loft insurlation, you can beat the cold, some sort of heater with a thermostat might help, only need somthing small like one of thoses heating trays for winemaking and put the ventilation on a thermostat to maintain the temp. ![]() ![]() ![]() | Growth slows way before the actual temps reach freezing, though. The Clarke book never mentions specific temps, but says that "low temperatures inhibit photosynthesis and slow the metabolic rate of plants; extended cool weather usually stunts the growth of cannabis." He mentions that keeping the roots/soil warm is equally (if not more so) important that ambient temps. Seems a simple propagation mat could be useful in the grow box??

![]() | ive read 60F they about stop growing and below 50F is considered very bad. move your box to your bedroom and insulate the windows, the extra body heat at night might help. Raise the box up off the floor with a pallet or insulation or both. controlled heat at the roots will help, winemaking stores and grow stores often have these.

![]() ![]() | You guys gotta learn to think outside of the box if it gets too coldat night, then why not switch your light cycle around! I'm not saying this is foolproof, but it seems to me that if your growbox/enclosure is light-tight, you could easily switch it so your light runs during the night, and remains off during the day. 1: The Light on at night will help to beat out the cold. 2: Having the lights come on a little before your bedtime will usually work out well because it offers you time to tend to the plant(s) when your least likely to be interrupted. The key thing here is to make sure your growbox is LIGHT TIGHT! A little leak can make a big difference on the cellular level. Expecially if that little leak is of sunlight which is far more powerful than any HID light you could throw in there. --adamx
