![]() | hmmm... sounds easy enough.. you might want to consider squeezing in an extra foot of vertical height, maybe even just 6" .. just to have it. in case you have that certain nug that wants to get 6" higher than your setup permits.. ive found when building something permanent, i always tried to do everything percise to what i thought the plants needed.. and precise always seemed to undercut me... give it a lil more horsepower i have some vertical floros in a box just like you're about to build.. except it's taller than it is wide. i cant decide if they're good for the growth or not.. fan leaves tend to face down instead of outward kind of blocking light from hitting your undergrowth instead of the other way around.. especially if it's indica.. your undergrowth would have to pop out of the foliage to get sum action.. but imo the vertical floros arent producing a desireable effect for me.. sometimes my main cola gets confused and starts growing towards the vertical floros instead of towards the HPS and the half of the nug thats on the hps side seems to get fried.. it's wierd.. anybody else experience this?

| the HPS is small so if that is the case for the flo's then ill put them on top with the HPS, no matter what i need more light, also my room is only 7 feet tall and the walls slant up to a point, so 4 feet is about as much as i can do without going overbard and everyone wanting to know whats inside... im leaving now to the store Vee | ||

| well i went and got allthe wood for 25 dollar grand total!!! cheapo i looked for some flo's some 2 feet ones, but the ballest for them i would have to wire myself to be able to plug into a wall, and i do not know how to do that. the ones that pluged right into the wall didnt have enough lumens(cheap kitchen ****ty light kind). anyways, how hard is this to wire those fixtures up to go into the wall? also is there any other stores out there that deal with flo's better then HD? cause i really dont think this 100w hps will be enough, and 2 2 feet flo's with 2 lights in them each will add some good light for good buds? what do you guys think, your the expert im just trying to learn all i can. thanks for all the help Vee | ||

![]() | 25 bucks.. not bad. usually doesnt cost much to throw one of these boxes together. love the depot.the ballasts are pretty easy to wire, the depot has a lighting section w/ a grounded plug head, and then cord, you just put the plug head on the cord, you gotta pretty much match the positive negative and ground in all the connecting spots.. (plug head to cord, cord to ballast.) they're usually color coded.. im about to post pics of my closet in the MCI forum, ther'll be a post of my power supply w/ my rigged up cord for my HPS from the depot.. give you a lil example of what you'll end up with. im pretty sure the depot also has 4 foot long shoplights.. for 7 bux.. i know you'd have to modify your box somehow but they're alot cheaper.. the 2 bulb 2 foot fixtures you're talkin about are like 22 dollars.. youd end up paying 30+ for one of those fixtures, and the lumens for those 2 foot bulbs are only about 900 max. compared to 4 foot bulbs which put out 3000+ .. for 1/4 the price. so if you're gona blow 60 dollars on floros for 4000 lumens, you may as well get a 100 watt hps from the depot instead.. 9000 lumens right there. stick it up top with your other one.. i think they have space convenient rectangle wall mount hps'. what outer dimensions did you decide on? a. skunk

| just to let everyone know who has been reading this, and for the people that helped with the ideas and all that good stuff, i just got back from my dads, and i must say, toerh then a few light leaks i can already see that will be there, this box is fantastic for an old hippie and a young stoner to throw a box together, lucky the old man just got a nice table saw from HD and we made the box a little more clean cut. it doesnt look like much other thena big 4 foot tall wood box with a big swinging door on it, oh well. this will give my babys somthing to really grow in, fantastic i cant wait for the first joint of homegrown i smoke, that will be the day. Vee P.S. also i plan to add 2 4 foot flo's on each side of the plants to compliment the HPS on top. this should give them a little more umph to grow and be strong, plus give some tasty buds to boot. | ||

![]() | light leaks? doh.. i can see your box already *invisioned*wher're the leaks from? the main door or the connecting sides? if it's the main door, then some 1/4" insulation foam or sponge tape (avail. at walmart or the depot <-- i think) should do the trick to keep the light out, just run a border of that around your door, or on the part the door closes on.. you build intake/exhaust on the box?

| not yet im waiting for next pay day to get the foam stuff your talking about, it is leaking around the door the most, but also along the sides. im going to use ducktape for the sides and that foam you speak of for the door, im just being lazy intill flowering time or whatever. also the door is just to huge so a lot of light gets out.... gunna have to go with a lot of that foam tape, lol. for the air movment, all i have is a fan in the box (6inch) and on payday im going to eather by 2 or 4 computer fans, some on the top to vent out warm air, then some on the bottom to get in colder air... peace V | ||
