Hey Smokin Its 1/2 gallon to each foot of plant growth ![]() Quote from the grow guides in soil growing "Plant size in soil is directly related to pot size. If you want the plant to grow bigger, put it in a bigger pot.Usually 1/2 gallon per foot of plant is sufficient. A six foot tall plant would require a minimum of a 3 gallon pot" Quote:
First thing I found out is there are no hard fast rules in growing and no single source is the end all and be all of growing info Smokin Last edited by plainsman1963; 02-06-2003 at 11:42 AM..

![]() | exactly right smokin....you should never take a single source as the gospel truth. Look around....compare..... Also, remember, sfl, that we are re-writng our grow guide even as we speak. Lots of outdated info there. I've even read about a cubic foot of dirt for every foot of plant....that would be a LOT more than 1/2 -1 gallon. Always best to have too much dirt instead of not enough. cy ![]()

Well rav, I have done many experiments with pot sizes and the retrictions it puts on your plant. And I have grown a 3ft plant in a 2 gallon pot with no problem, didnt get rootbound but was a little close. No plant grows at the same rate. But I grow with more space cause its better to have too much than not enough. I agree with the grow guides cause from my experience SO FAR, a 1/2 gallon for each foot tall your plant is, will do, BUT If you want to be safe, Use a gallon per foot. I quoted the grow guides cause when I first signed up here I read the whole grow guide my first day and remembered reading about pot size and thats what made me start my different pot sizes and how they affect your plant experiment. But when this whole thing started I went and found it and wrote it on here, I just use the quote to back me up But if they are getting changed then that dont matter anymore. I agree, 1 gallon to each foot will do but 1/2 will also do if space is a factor. I am just rambling![]() Smoker4life420 Last edited by plainsman1963; 02-06-2003 at 11:44 AM..

This problem will never be solved because you both have ur own ways of growing. H*ll everyone does, *eventhough i do use a gallon per foot* *about the transplanting, i do it all the time, and as long as you never completely saturate the soil, you shouldn't have any problem with ur stems* peacefully smokin, Sell_R
