![]() | What exactly is "FLASH DRYING"? (3 views) Flash Drying refers to speeding the drying and curing process, reducing the time it takes to go from the plant to the pipe. There are several methods to drying your crop: Traditional Hang drying, Bag Drying, Oven Drying and Food Dehydrator Drying. Traditional Hang Drying: The classic drying method, employing no added heat and relying on the natural drying process. Buds are seperated and suspended in a cool, dry area. Temperature around 70-75 degrees F is optimal, with a 50% humidity. You will not need to create a special room for drying, normal temps and humidity will work fine. As you dry in this method, excess clorophyl in the buds will be used up. Drying should take ~2 weeks. This method produces the best flavor and even drying. Bag Drying: For those who do not have an open area to dry in, or are worried about detection, bag drying may be the answer. With bag drying, the buds are placed into a brown paper bag, and set in an out of the way area. The buds should be turned every few days to ensure they do not flatten on one side, or clump together which harbors wetness. This method takes ~2 weeks, like hanging. The advantages of bag drying are security, and odor control. The buds may retain too much wetness with this method, and may flatten on the sides. Oven Drying: This is one method of Flash Drying. Heat your oven to 140 degrees F, make sure the oven in not set to 200 degrees F. 200 degrees F is the vaporization temp for THC. Place the buds on a cookie sheet and place the sheet on the middle rack of the oven. Dry the buds for 10-35 minutes, depending on quantity. This method of drying, though quick, produces a harsh smoke. Food Dehydrator: Similar to oven method, a single layer of buds on each tray. Heat between 115 and 150 Degrees F. This method also produces a harsh smoke. Slow Drying is the preferred method, producing great results. The Flash Drying method can be used to test your crop, or to finish up half dried bud. -Boy Link To Original Article Last edited by Xgone.; 04-27-2007 at 12:55 PM.. | ||
