Police officers say 17-year-old boy had marijuana during a traffic stop

L. SAUCON TWP. | A 17-year-old boy had marijuana all over his shirt when officers pulled his car over Friday night on Route 378 at the Interstate 78 overpass, police said.

The teenager, who lives in Catasauqua, was trying to wipe the marijuana off his shirt when an officer approached his car, police said. The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was pulled over for driving erratically, police said.

The boy was also found to have been drinking, police said.

He was referred to Northampton County juvenile authorities on charges of possession of marijuana and underage drinking.

Three of the boy's passengers were also cited during the traffic stop, police said. Those cited were:

-- Joseph Swirble, of the 900 block of Bridge Street in Catasauqua, for underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

-- Steven Holman, of the first block of North 12th Street in Catasauqua, for underage drinking.

-- Michael Bartholomew, of the 400 block of Race Street in Catasauqua, for underage drinking.

I blame the booze :P. I can hardly see how any cop would notice ground MJ on his shirt and what is more questionable is how he couldn't get the MJ off his shirt before the cop reached his car when it takes roughly 2 seconds to shake your shirt.

I'm not making a blanket statement here, however, many of a LEO will lie their asses off when and where they can get away with it. I've seen them do it too many times in the little hick town I grew up in.

Many LEO are fine honest men and women. However, I feel a good chunk of them lack the character an individual in the profession should possess.
