I just saw a report on the evening news about how drug use in Portugal has dropped overall since the decriminalisation of ALL drugs in 2001, and more significantly it has not become the "drug haven" critics predicted at the time. I can't find any similar reports online (bizarrely) but here's an interesting radio show which covers the concept in a bit more detail. It's more geared towards hard drugs and the addicts it produces; but it's an interesting policy to say the least. BBC iPlayer - Health Check: Portugal Health Quote:
